Izuku honestly wasn’t sure how their conversation had taken this turn, he was sure with late night conversations they were bound to take some WEIRD path one way or another, but THIS - ? Izuku nodded softly, his gaze slowly drifting to his hands as they rested on his lap. Taking a moment to think over EVERYTHING in his life, the good, the bad, the complicated - all of it.
“I . . .” His voice was soft, funnily enough the most prominent part of his mind was probably his life before he got his quirk. It was a GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER mindset, because as much as he wanted to have a quirk, and wanted to be a hero and grow up to be someone as AMAZING as All Might - there were things about his life BEFORE that he, more or less, MISSED how his life was prior to getting his quirk from All Might. Mostly because he hated how worried his mom got about him now, what he was doing to her.
He needed to be stronger.
“Yeah, you’re right,” There were a lot of things about his old life, the things he used to do, BY HIMSELF honestly - since his friend group wasn’t exactly as, well, FULL as it was now. Part of one to Party of Many in less than two months was a BIT overwhelming - but nice, in the end. And SURE, he still could do a lot of the things he did, view hero stats, update his journal, write notes and technique ideas for quirks, write blogs in hero forums, research as much as he could about Hero Society as a whole - stuff like that. But with school, training, having friends to hang out with now, as well as ACTUALLY going forward with the dream that he’s had since he was FIVE? It didn’t leave a lot of room for his old past times.
Maybe that’s a good thing.
“Not wanting it back just shows that you’ve grown PAST it, in a way, right?”
