Thought I’d start doodling my fave boi of each month for the year, so here’s January’s fave boi Max Lobo from Banana Fish

Yall ever think of the relationship Max and Ash could have had if he survived. Because like with so many other aspects of the series, there was still a lot between them left unsaid, unresolved, and to unpack. Particularly surrounding Griffin's death.

I feel like had Ash lived Max would have taken him in. To give him the chance to be a normal young adult. It would not have been an easy transition with everything Ash had to process and the mental and emotional load he had to carry that he's now able to focus on.

I think that Ash's night terrors would come back, and even some of that original anger and hostility he had towards Max at the beginning of the series. But Max does not give up on him and uses this opportunity himself to grieve and process the loss of Griff with Ash.

Like can u imagine them finally being able to talk about Griff and remember him. For Ash to have someone to talk to about his big brother and to talk to someone else who loved him. And now because Max took him in he got to be a big brother figure to Michael. OK I'll see myself out now
