In response to that anon about Sehun getting an OST for his movie - I'm not saying that it's impossible and there's no chance for it to happen, but the likelihood is /extremely/ low. And contrary to what you said, Sehun did get scouted for his looks, but he debuted in EXO because of his dancing, his hard work and perseverance, and his ability to bring in stans. Sehun has never once stated singing as one of the areas that he wants to excel in or venture into - (1/8)
- and has only ever talked about wanting to go into modelling and acting (and of course improving in his dance, but that's a given considering he is a dancer). Yes, SM do see potential, but they also know where not to expend efforts if they know it's not going to give a desired result. They are a business after all and they seek to be efficient and to focus on areas - both as a business and in their idols - that they excel in and to continue pushing forward in those areas. (2/8)
Sehun did get a line in SFY and he did sound very sweet in it, but the fact is that he just does not have a voice that is made out for singing, he doesn't have the technique or the training, and he also does not have the desire - which is something that is very important in being able to improve in your singing. SM is not, and probably will not, at least for a long time, be focusing too much of their efforts on his singing because he for the most part can't. (3/8)
And you know what? That is /perfectly/ fine, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. That's not his role, it was never meant to be his role, and that is a-okay. Idol groups are meant to be constituted of individuals that excel in different areas of entertainment and performance and in Sehun's case that is dancing, visuals, a potential in acting, and his ability to bring in fans - which are all equally important and necessary to an idol group as singing is. This isn't to sound confrontational or anything, but, "They’re working on Sehun everyday, to improve his vocals because they see and hear the potential," that is not very true at all ;-; He's definitely improved in rap and SM has seen that and that's evident in the amount of lines he's gotten, but I don't think they've ever really considered Sehun to be any form of a vocalist and Sehun definitely has not considered himself for that either. And also just one last thing - "Sehun does know how to sing," simply is just not true. Being able to carry a note occasionally does not in any way really make a serious singer out of anybody, but I think a lot of people seem to have this mentality. The examples that you gave - Taemin, Jessica, etc - are people who actively /wanted/ to be singers. Sehun is very different in that aspect and that's why I think to expect the same of him isn't the way to go. (6/8)
Like, don't get me wrong, I love love LOOOVED how adorable and sweet and gentle and soft Sehun sounded for his lines for SFY (frankly the only line I remembered in that song...) and On The Snow, but I can also recognize that that is not an area that he is talented in or even that interested in. I doubt that he's going to go from a few cute little lines in a few songs to a whole OST on his own. I'm of course not saying it's 100% impossible, just that given everything I said, highly unlikely (7/8)
I love Sehun, I love Sehun so fucking much, I think if anyone follows me or has even talked to me knows that much, and I treasure him above so so many other things, but as his stan I also have the ability to be able to recognize areas that he lacks in, and it doesn't make me love him any less. This is before someone reads my message and thinks that I'm some fake Sehun stan - news flash, not everything has to be seen through rosy glasses, and it's okay to admit where your bias lacks in. I’ve already given my response to this to Tanya in the chat and I agree fully with her on this. I may think a bit differently, but all in all she has a valid point and I choose to change how I thought in the first place and think about it a bit more like she does here. I also just think it’s nice that everyone else also read this because it’s really refreshing to see someone who is a really big Sehun fan like she is, tell it how it is. She sees Sehun as both the entertainer and person he is and I truly truly admire and respect that about her. - Now this is posted like this, and I’m not going to open any discussion. Atleast not here haha. Tanya here really really LOVE Sehun and everyone that follows her know this. Just wanted to let everyone know that so you don’t attack her because she TRULY loves Sehun okay.
