When I was still living with my grandmother, she would prepare soup for the family occasionally. I especially love the chicken soup she made. Recently we went to @tansersengherbs Restaurant to try the soups they were famous for. Simon had the Turtle soup and I had the Black Chicken Soup. The chicken soup sure brings me back to the times I was still living with my grandma, drinking the soups she made. The Black Chicken soup has this bittersweet taste, I’m not sure if I’m saying this right. When you taste the soup, you will immediately recognize the multitude of herbs added to the soup, the initial bitterness that will pass after which a mild sweetness takes over. The soup was thick, I’m sure its because of the amount of ingredients boiling in the pot that made up that creamy texture. It was great! Simon had the Turtle soup, the turtle being one of those soft-shelled species that is prized for its medicinal value. I haven’t had turtle meat before and I really dare not eat it. Simon said it tasted like a cross between chicken and crocodile. Don’t ask me about crocodile, I’m not a cave man like he is… Jokes aside, he likes the taste of it, the sweetness and saltiness plus the creamy texture, its heavenly. Both soups were really filling and the ingredients were generous in its portion, we were totally stuffed with our soups and a few side dishes. Overall, it’s a really wholesome meal. I think we’ve just extended our lifespan by 5mins having this meal. I’m sure of that.
