This is part of our April 14, 2011 sequence as we tried to make our escape out of Tushka, OK as a huge multi-vortex tornado (later rated an EF3) bore down on us. Honestly, we ended up pushing it a bit here and stayed about 20 seconds too long.  As we bailed south out of town the inflow winds into the tornado were just screaming with 80-100mph gusts easy along with powerlines falling and small tree limbs literally blowing past. It was a bit intense, one of the few times I've kinda lost my cool out there! FYI, Nubians are a real people and we still exists

I love when I tell someone that I am Nubian and they give me a puzzled look like I am talking about the lost city of Atlantis. Here are a few facts you may not have known:

Nubians have an oral language called Roton and there are two dialects, Fajiki and Matuki among the Nubians of Upper Egypt.

Gamal Abdel Nasser, the first president of Egypt called for the construction of the Aswan High Dam, which led to the displacement (movement) of Nubian villages. As a result, our villages that contained countless cultural and historical artifacts were lost and now sit under the Dam and Lake Nasser.

Nubians families usually have people of many shades of colors, from light to very dark.

Mohamed Mounir, Hamza El Din and Ahmed Monib are some famous Nubian artists.

Toshka, Eniba, Ebrem, Abu Simbel, Komobo are some Nubian villages.
