May 15th, 1922, ninety-nine years ago yesterday, marked one of those quirky historical events that make Sedro-Woolley such an interesting place to live. Tusko, a sad and deservedly angry elephant, escapes the circus and runs amuck through the streets of town: a brief moment of freedom.
I wrote this poem to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Tusko's run.
