My name is Julia Benitez and I am a Chemical Engineering major at the University of New Haven. Currently, I am going through my sophomore year and I am looking forward to helping my peers during it. I am fluent in both English and Spanish, and one of my biggest passions is writing. As an engineering major I have experience with technical memos, lab reports, and essays. “There are a lot of students feeling insecure at this precise moment. They do not believe that their writing is good enough. Today I can say that I have been there before, and one of the most important things to get out of the insecurity field is to be supported and encouraged by others. The people who trusted me were the ones who helped me the most. Now that I have the chance to be part of the Writer to Writer program, I want to transmit that same feeling to them. Because trusting myself was the first step to start showing others what I was capable of. There are hidden talents in everybody, we just have to be patient and let them emerge.”
