The Roots of Tuxedo Junction
The swingandbeyond blog retells that story of Tuxedo Junction from the up-tempo theme song of the “20th Century Gabriel” Erskine Hawkins to the huge hit by Glenn Miller of the same tune by taking it more at a ballad tempo. Interesting how Miller took this classic in a slower tempo as he did with Duke Ellington’s A Train.

And of course “In the Mood” - is it cliche that this is one of my all time favorite songs ever? Period.
And then, of course, you still have classics like “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” & “I’ve Got a Gal in Kalamazoo” and so many more. But I just happened to be listening to “Tuxedo Junction” and well . . .
