Ben Solo, or Kylo Ren as he was marketed by his sponsors, carved hard right before Rey--sending a spray of snow up in a thick curtain. 

Rey glared as she pulled off her goggles, attempting to clear the snow off them. Kylo didn’t bother to remove his, or the dark ski mask that covered the bottom half of his face.

“I’m taking this path. And nothing will stand in my way--we all know how snowboards handle flat ground,” he said coldly as he dug his ski poles into the ground.

“It’s not your mountain,” she replied sharply, bending down to snap her boots into the bindings of her snowboard. “No matter how much money your grandfather put into slopes.”

Kylo pulled out his ski poles just to slam them back into the snow with more emphasis. “A race then. Just you and me. Winner gets the mountain.”

Rey’s brows scrunched together. “I don’t think that’s how ski resorts work.”

His hands clenched into fists.

Thanks a bunch! I thought that the new kids all have a lot of heart to them, for better or worse.  They’re very expressive emotionally, and tend to make important decisions based on their feelings.
