Does anyone ever stop and think about Qetsiyah for a second??
Like... how did she get away with abusing nature and magic SO badly that she literally created an entire new realm for the afterlife?
Why was she out here taking over god-level responsibilities like it was her right?
I HATE how the TVD writers didn't explore that storyline more. They had gold and chose to keep it as a simple revenge plot instead of exploring it further.
Like really, dude? Instead of digging into the fact that she reshaped the metaphysical structure of the universe out of spite, y'all brush over it in two episodes. "Yeah, so she basically made a whole new world for every supernatural soul that dies now and for centuries to come, anyway moving on—"
And then they decide to make a different plot about Lucifer (also not giving background story and leaving the impression that heaven and hell exist and everything they showed us about peace and the Other Side is now just a random thing someone whipped up because apparently anyone can create their own versions of afterlife like hop on the trend yall let's create a realm and we can maybe try for an only girls purgatory now). THEN they give me the dumbest storyline of Katherine taking over hell??? (Also another thing I'm mad about with Tvd writing don't get me started on how there's zero logic with how Katherine goes to hell but literally every other heinous person doesn't like hello?? Silas??? Klaus??? Mikael??? Nadia too???She did just as many horrible things they ALLLL did everyone just had their own reasons, why Katherine????).
What happened to all the nice supernatural worldbuilding you already established? Why bring Katherine back in the sloppiest writing ever when you could've easily added her to The Originals and given her character so much more purpose and crazy character development as Elijah's girl during the whole yay there's a baby let's be a family again?
She didn't even get an actually good death fitting for her character they ruined her and diminished all the glory in her lore and ending her in such a pathetic state. Anyway, back to Qetsiyah.
She could have been SO much crazier, more destructive, and legendary (what do you mean myths of hades and loki make it to modern society but a woman who single handily made a new ETERNAL PLANE is forgotten even by the supernatural???)
She genuinely the perfect character to show us the logic of nature and the universe in terms of the supernatural IN TERMS OF WITCHES CREATION TOO and they just didn't go there. (Also a dig at the trash storyline about the Hollow.)
And in a universe where witches constantly talk about how "nature demands balance," can we PLEASE explore that? The whys, the hows, the whats, and how they got away with minimal damage after diabolically abusing nature?
Even Esther and other witches - how do THEY get to slow their aging, cheat death by possessing bodies, manipulate life itself, but when a vampire drinks blood and runs around half-immortal (not even immortal, they can STILL die) and nature suddenly draws the line???
WHY. TELL ME NOW.
Like, why does nature demand balance? What even is balance to nature? How does leaving human life breaks it? What does nature do when that balance is broken other then try reverse it? Why is nature so committed in doing that??? And HOW did Qetsiyah pull off a cosmic-level violation with basically zero consequences??
The Other Side should have been a MASSIVE supernatural wound. A metaphysical crime scene. Something that warped magic for centuries-not just a petty revenge invention that somehow didn't break the world in half.
Why did they never go into any of this? Why not explore how witches came to be? How the creation of the Other Side and the abuse of magic affected nature? Because we don't see the world ending or anything horrible that makes nature demand said balance?
AGAIN Why does it want balance? What IS that balance to nature? And how come living forever and running around with superpowers is considered tipping the scales? But being born by chance into a magical state isn’t??
Like... TELL ME MORE. Explain the logic. Explain the cost. Explain why the universe didn't collapse the minute Qetsiyah said, "Let me just OPEN A NEW REALM real quick."
I will never get over how much potential they threw away.
