my poor disillusioned girl. jane's been through it, okay!!! she's a very old vampire who was one of the first turned by aro alongside her twin brother alec. they were gifted humans before they became immortal & were subsequently shunned and... burned at the stake. aro saved them from their doom and now jane seems him as the only father figure in her life.
life within the volturi guard can become stale after all this time. she's very old and powerful but knows that her worth to others has intrinsically become tied to her gift of pain illusion. yes, she can make anyone who is not a shield or an original writhe in pain but that too can become jaded. it's one of the few things that brings her joy, unfortunately. caius' influence does not help!!!
moving to mystic falls with all the craziness going on in town is extremely refreshing to jane. she was fed up of how monotonous her life was & now at least there's something interesting going on. she's unemployed but can be seen wandering around if you look close enough. she's good at sticking to the shadows and observing from afar, but feels emboldened by new territory. she and alec have gained a fearsome reputation after decimating the romanian coven so the world kind of knows they're the powerhouse behind the guard. god help them all.

DIVERGENCES. you may know him by the name of stefan salvatore from the source material, but for my interpretation he hails from a turkish family and is called sefa soylemez. don't come for me bc i ship everything, but i do find it makes the most sense for sefa's character to lean heavily on the origin story; namely his dormant obsession with his maker, katherine pierce, the reason for all his pain and self-loathing and ripper name even all these decades later. sefa believes himself to have washed his hands clean of her, but he does also orbit around the girl who shares her face... that sounds like he's totally over her, right? please also note that sefa is very much an addict where blood is concerned.
