one thing that struck me about vendetta of an is how the conflict between the tiemo and chang'an is framed bc it felt very realistic like it's a fight over land and resources and in that sense there's no good or bad, just two different sides trying to survive. felt more realistic to me than some blanket "these are the bad guys bc our guys are the good guys" handwaving that often happens

another thing i loved is that they never let you forget that the young emperor killed mo like i love that wasn't just some one-off thing they forgot about, but instead something that he had to live with and grapple with throughout the show
