TVR is a British sports car brand founded in 1947 by Trevor Wilkinson. She grew up from a small workshop in Blackpool, where Wilkinson built his first racing car. In 1958, production of the Grantura model began, which determined the design of all TVRs until recently: a steel tube main frame, independent suspension on all wheels, fiberglass body and engines from different suppliers. After the departure of Wilkinson in 1962, the company changed four owners: in 1965-1981. she belonged to Martin Lilly, in 1981-2004. - Peter Wheeler, 2004-2013 - Nikolai Smolensky, and now - a group of British businessmen led by Le Edgar. TVR's popularity peaked in the 1990s, when the company was the largest independent sports car manufacturer in the UK.

In its 70-year history, TVR has gone bankrupt and changed hands at least seven times. In 2006, the Blackpool plant was empty, and the firm was in danger of extinction. Fortunately, in 2013 the brand was brought back to life by British investors Le Edgar and John Chasey.

Gordon Murray, the creator of the McLaren F1 supercar, was involved in the development of a new generation of the Griffith model. The process dragged on for three years, so the debut took place in 2017 at the Goodwood Revival event. Production will begin in 2019 with a limited edition of 500 units. TVR Griffith Launch Edition (LE), which will cost £90,000.

The TVR Griffith retained the unique identity of the Blackpool cars, which is expressed in the design and proportions of the body: a long bonnet, a fastback sunroof in the center, a chopped tail and muscular wheel arches. The classic shape was complemented by LED headlights in one block with air intakes, side-mounted exhaust pipes, a rear diffuser and an active wing.

Gordon Murray Design's iStream architecture provides the necessary torsional rigidity and optimum weight distribution (50:50). It features a carbon-fibre body and an aluminum honeycomb monocoque with a carbon fiber underbody for a so-called ground effect. Behind the front axle is a Cosworth-modified 5-liter, 32-valve, direct-injection, dry-sump Ford Coyote V8 engine producing 500 hp.

The equipment also includes a 6-speed manual transmission, independent double wishbone suspension with electronically adjustable dampers and ventilated disc brakes.

Unlike its predecessors, TVR Griffith is equipped with ABS, power steering and airbags. Inside, the car received a digital instrument panel surrounded by cylindrical buttons, an overhead console with a multimedia system, air conditioning, leather seats and other amenities.
