saiii omg hi!! tell me smth interesting or a theory about row whatever it is go for ittt
ada omg!!! you already know a couple of stuff so i’ll go for smth new that i’ve been thinking about.
so, i was reading the language of thorns the other day, esp the too clever fox one and i kinda think nikolai is not going to die? instead, he’s going to be(come) a disabled character. (i was planning to write a one-shot sort of thing too... and i think it’s still writing itself, quite ghostly,,, but eh).
so by the end of the story, it’s obvious just how injured koja is by the girl. “his [fur] never sat quite right again” and that “other animals teased him less for it”. it’s an assumption im willing to make.
personally, i think this will be an awesome route to take tbh. every single person is just an accident away from becoming disabled. to show that through nikolai, who btw is a man of power too can be used as a tool to address ableism i think. it will add more discussion to the books.
in addition to all of that about the disability, (re: the teasing part from too-celever fox), im gonna go ahead ahead and take a guess that 1. he is kinda deemed unworthy of his position due to his disability, which will then lead to addressing it as an allegory to real life issues. nikolai is also the most adored character so in a way, it satisfies the part of a. accident away from disability part and b. how just because someone is disabled, it doesn’t mean they’re suddenly someone different in knowledge and skill. (im not disabled, so if i come off as insensitive or incorrect, i will correct myself. im very sorry if this is offensive).
2. ravka is sure to become a democracy by the end, and zoya will become the interim head of some sorts. why? because the darkling will fuck up again ,despite nikolai trying to make him be resourceful of some sorts to win the war and, as a result, nikolai’s secret will somehow become a hindrance to his position.
also, if you look at it, it will also be a sure sought way to sense how zoya, a character of colour, will have to deal with stuff. it’s mostly going to be all about threats to diplomatic stuff, like dealings from west ravka and such. because, no matter what zoya wants to convince herself of grisha not being accepted by the countryfolk or the city, she is wrong. “welcome home commander,” is what the guard at the gates says. fuck dude she’s so oblivious wtf. it will play into the plot somehow methinks.
kos was kinda disappointing because we couldn’t see much of the diplomacy that nikolai boasts of, the courtly matters and all of that so im hoping that row will bring more content on that front.
also i just thought of this (all of that^^^ had been on my mind for a while) but im sure there will not be a full on war? like, not a legit battle. there will be skirmishes akin to a war scenario, but a complete battle like the last battle in r&r? it’s not going to be there... or so i am hoping, if the countries of grishaverse are going to take the route im assuming (yk, the cold war scenario. not a full blown war, but still tense stuff).
the more i think about the synopsis, the more im thinking the “friend” zoya is refusing to bury is going to be lada. she is perhaps a grisha too, taken away by the shu after darkling drowns novokribrisk? im not sure, but lada does not survive the parem correction or smth. it’s still so unclear around the edges so more thought this needs.
