"Caleb Soto, of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, told Al Jazeera that between 70 and 80 people had been detained, but only three lawyers have been allowed access to the detention centre where they were being held to provide legal advice.
Soto added that members of the community had effectively been “kidnapped” as officials, wearing masks had not shown warrants or any form of documentation when carrying out arrests.
Additionally, David Huerta, president of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California, was arrested for allegedly obstructing federal agents during the raids. Huerta was reportedly injured during the arrest and received medical treatment at Los Angeles General Medical Center before being taken into custody."

I know everyone and their mother will have something to say about the ICE storyline this episode. Honestly, my reaction the whole time was fear, and rage, and frustration, and that sick leaden feeling in my stomach. I don't know if ICE agents IRL would even bring someone into the ER if they got hurt during detention. Is that what that writer meant by being fair to both sides, presenting ICE as an agency that would take the extra step to bring someone in for medical treatment? From everything we've seen, that's simply not the case. Detainees are left to suffer, or die. They get dropped off miles from home, disabled in the wintertime, only to be found dead days later, unheard from by their families. They get beaten and abused and tortured and they're lucky to receive bare minimum medical care in facilities far less capable than the pitt. I understand they're only reflecting real life, as much as they can on a major network, working around censorship and conflicting storylines. I'm curious to know what the filming experience was like for all the people of color on set and on staff, to fictionalize the very real trauma that's facing them and their families and communities while actors get paid to dress up and play as their abusers and kidnappers - i hope they got the support and care they needed.
If whoever sees this please just send up a prayer or a good vibe, you don’t even have to like or reblog this.
My childhood friend’s dad got taken by ICE. Just please send good thoughts and donate to your local ICE detention center commissaries or go protest or fuck I don’t even know what to do, nobody knows what to do

Edit: I reblogged with more detail, check the notes
Me when I actually cried when Pranita was worried about her daughter being worried about where she was. Like not a single phone call - those agents don't see her as a mom. They don't see her as HUMAN. She's being detained and she's injured and all she can think about is her daughter and they can't even give her the closure and assurance of a phone call. It's no coincidence that Jesse was assigned to her case; he's a white man nurse, they were probably hoping ICE would take Pranita's care/treatment seriously because of that. But they didn't; instead they tried to forcefully remove her despite her still being in pain and then when Jesse rightfully defended her he was arrested and taken with her
I couldn't help but see my own ma and aunties in Pranita. I REALLY hope we can see her and Jesse again just to see if they're okay :(
