the events in baltimore are starting to become more and more like how brandon's mom described the miami riots in 1980 that led to her grandmother being murdered on her way home from work because they mistakenly thought she was white. i dont want to describe the details, but after what they did to her there was 0% chance of survival even if they had gotten her to the hospital while i agree that things have to change, because black people are getting killed for no reason, this is scaring me. im scared that orlando will be the next city to riot. im scared that what happened to brandon's great grandmother will happen to him or his mom or me or someone close to us
talked to mom about ferguson earlier and though it is overboard, the fact that tumblr puts so much fault on police as they try to enforce authority over riots (more or less) isn't quite right. mob mentality is an important dynamic to public rise against anything, especially government, where they have to respond stronger, though not to the amount ferguson seems to be. but what needs to happen is a calm gathering of accounts, i think all can agree to that, and hopefully the world isnt crazy enough to ignore that need. but things are being blown out of proportion one after another, bigger and bigger. is discouraging for me both seeing unjust police action and some twisting from the public as to what the police should be doing to prevent looting and violent escalation.

this is even better than the pool party last year where the student body president's statement summed up to: "only ten arrests, a new record"
