the things about tornadoes i learned so far
the largest tornado was 2.6 miles wide and was rated EF3(the el reno 2013)
the deadliest tornado killed approximately 1300 people in 1989
the 1997 jarrell tornado was one of the first depictions of a so-called "dead man walking"(the two vortexes rotating created an effect of a walking tornado)
the joplin 2011 ef5 tornado caused "butterfly people", the nature of which remain unknown. some saw angels, which are thought to be caused by mass hysteria. some said that these were people who were literally skinned alive, and those "wings" were the skin.
the el reno 2013 is believed to be the first tornado to kill storm chasers
the tornado can grow from ef0 to ef5 in a matter of minutes
the longest tornado(or a series) lasted 3.5 hours
the tornadoes are fast as hell(the record for the highest forward speed is 75 mph or 121 kph)
the highest peak wind speed of 321 mph(517 kph) was achieved by bridge creek-moore 1999 tornado
hey besties. guess who was on the verge of a panic attack in the basement because there were tornado sirens going off and they're so fucking loud ✨️💕🌟🎀🌈

WE’RE FINALLY FREED NO MORE STORMING
Here’s the tornado if you guys wanted to see
I don't understand why I am currently hyperfixating on bugs and the weather/climate again but it has taken over my brain lol. You don’t want to know how often I use my weather app and look up information about the bugs in my house and backyard.
Cw for Tornadoes, Funnel clouds below!
For those curious about what exactly I saw, this is a poorly drawn artists rendition of what happened. It felt as fast as this video does.
This would be an across the street shot from my place, and there was very little warning beforehand that a funnel would be forming. It broke before we even left the house, but if it hadn't, my spouse and I estimated it was within 10 minutes of us..
It went from sunny to cloudy and the clouds did this but in a swirly pattern heading towards the funnel cloud at the time.
It started getting windy in a matter of seconds, and one moment it was sunny, the next we're raining so hard people are taking cover. It flash flooded the streets. People were being sent home from work.
We get to our bus terminal where we would normally transfer, and hear over the radio that if we'd been in our area, we would've been transported to the bus depot where they store them at nighttime - With the driver. We sheltered in place at the terminal, waiting for answers for only half an hour but it felt like longer. So many people didn't know what was going on. It started flash flooding like crazy and the one bus we ended up going on to get to our destination, was wet from being out in the rainstorm for longer than our prior bus had been - Water was dripping from the emergency exit in the top, and the floor was soaked towards the front. More than likely people didn't want to close the windows.
Our driver informed us of everything he was being told, which helped calm all of us down I think. The whole bus was pretty spooked about having to shelter in place at the bus terminal. But it is good to know they will keep us safe if it happens in the future, regardless of which part of town we're in.
Then just as suddenly as it came, the clouds went away, the rain stopped, and the wind died down almost immediately. We do still have some severe thunder clouds rolling in, but I think they may just pass us by actually.
Oh and the whole time it's raining and stuff? Lightning and thunder too. Thunderstorm + Tornado.
hi,, sorry if this is a particularly strange req :} could we get a headmate based on any tornado from the 1974 super outbreak? feel free to ignore if tornadoes/bad weather is triggering, we want yall to be okay!! oh and here's the wikipedia link :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1974_Super_Outbreak
You knock on the door, hoping to find shelter from the sun. After a moment you hear footsteps approaching, then a pause as the person behind the door looks through the peephole. You decide to talk with him in hopes that he'll trust you and let you in.
“How'd you end up here?”
