Visualization of Dan's timeline until his creation.
I'm not sure how to tag this for today. First, this is a timeline, so I think it counts for all three prompts ( past, present, future). Second, it depends on the perspective whether it counts for the past or the future calender. If we look it from Dan's perspective it would be the past. If we look it from Danny's perspective it would be a potential future.
This is more a rough concept render than anything more polished and this is also one of my the bigger blender projects ( in terms of data size). I also wanted to add 2 more scenes but my computer can't handle that many objects in a blend file. That's why I reduced it to 4 key scenes.
Additionally I wanted to animated it like this at first:
But as you can see the scenes are too small so I decided to render it like above.
Today, the casino was closed, long enough for the guests to be gone, but for Quackity to still be in his office making up paperwork, so the Dogs stepped outside.
Rotty and Bull had begrudgingly gone along with the plan as Shepherd led them through it. Each stood just outside the property line, their shadows casting long black forms of themselves onto the tall casino walls. Today it would crumble. The boys pushed and shoved each other, playfully. The weight of the situation not creeping in until a text came through. With a breath, the boys looked around. Shepherd stepped forward.
Basset stood outside Quackity's house. He'd ran Cone to Rev's so he would be safe. Alaska was supposed to be here, he was supposed to be the one to blow the lid. But Basset didn't see him. He stood outside Quackity's yard, looking down at the control to his hand. As his phone buzzed, he pushed the button with a small click.
The sand shifted as thousands of pounds of materials were sent sky high. The boys at the casino running from the aftermath towards Shepherd's truck as chunks crashed into neighboring buildings, hooting and hollering at a job well done. Gunpowder and smoke clouded the sky like it had suddenly become night.
Quackity's house crumbled. Glass shot in every direction and a fire screamed out of the rubble. Chunks of foundation and beaten ground, covered the area as Basset tried. To run. He tried. He wasn't ready. The remnants of a family home, shattered into the ground. Basset took cover in a neighboring storm shelter, crying as he heard crashes of the fire spreading.
Under thousands if not millions of pounds of rubble, a heartbeat fell still.
(TW: War Trauma!! Angst!! Past Deaths!!! PTSD Flashbacks!! Brief descriptions of killed/injured soldiers!! Ending is kinda bittersweet though... So yay? :D I'm not an angst writer so don't expect a masterpiece. Lol.)

Tonight was 4th of July. A holiday humans celebrated. Something about a terrible war and them gaining their freedom from other humans. And they celebrated by.... Creating explosions? Fireworks they called them. They said they were supposed to represent the gunfire that had gone off during the war. Ratchet didn't understand why anyone would want to celebrate a war with explosions. Wasn't the calm that came after much more enjoyable? Seemed dumb. However, the others didn't think so. Sari had taken Bulkhead and Bumblebee to watch the display. And they had even convinced Optimus to tag along. The only one who had stayed was Prowl. The quietest of the bunch.
Good.
At least things would be peaceful for a while. Maybe he'll be able to get some extra sleep before the excitable youngsters came back. But before that could occur, he had work to do in the med bay.
So after they had all left, and the sun was set almost below the horizon, he busied himself with organizing his tools and medical equipment. Things had become quite displaced, with how many times Bumblebee had been brought in there, as of recent. This planet seemed to bring out the worst of his daredevil traits.
Eventually, he decided to sit down for a moment and give his old joints a rest. He glanced at the clock on one of the shelves and saw it had gotten late very quickly, and it was now dark outside. Perhaps it was time to get some sleep. The med bay was clean enough. At the very least, ready for when Bumblebee would have to be dragged in there again.
"Boom!" An explosion rang out.💥
Ratchet froze in place. His spark however, nearly jumped out of it's chamber. He listened. More explosions started. Distant, but steadily occuring. After sitting frozen for a bit, he suddenly remembered.
"Fireworks... Wonderful."
His fear subsided for the moment. But replaced by frustration. How could anyone find that racket entertaining? He no longer felt sleepy, so he tried to get back to cleaning. He picked up some data pads and moved them onto a shelf.
"Boom!"💥
Ratchet gasped and almost dropped the data pads. That explosion sounded all too familiar.
A painfully vibrant image flashed in his head. A mine had gone off. Him and a soldier he had been helping to safety had been sent flying. When he recovered from the shock, he felt Shrapnel had pierced his armor and lodged itself in his protoform. It was agonizing. But not as painful as the sight before him.
The soldier was dead. He had been finished off by the explosion. Ratchet could still see his lifeless battered frame. Eyes completely without light, and frame greyed. That bot had faith him, and he failed....
It felt too real.
Ratchet snapped back into reality and looked down at his shaking hands. Quietly, he sat down. And tried to comfort himself. Remember were he was. But that was very hard to do, as the explosions became more frequent.
Ever time he tried to think of something else, another firework went off.
"Boom!"💥
Anything. Anything other than war...
"Boom!"💥
The war...
A bomb had hit the base. Debris was everywhere. Nothing was undamaged. Almost no one was left alive. The main lighting systems were completely burnt out. All around him... Darkness. And death. Lives he couldn't save. Only him and few other soldiers were left alive. They were ordered to flee. But he couldn't possibly leave. There maybe survivors. What if-
"Boom!"💥
"RATCHET! THAT WAS A DIRECT ORDER! WE ARE LEAVING NOW!!!! MOVE OUT SOLDIER!!"
"WAIT! I'm picking up life scans! I can't leave them! I have to-"
"NOW!!!!!"
Ratchet was roughly dragged into the evacuation carrier. He fought them, but it was no use. The doors closed and they were airborne. All around them, explosions rang out.
"Boom!"💥
Ratchet frantically looked out the window, desperately searching for just a glimpse of the base. He quickly drew back when a shell hit the side of the carrier. It rattled his insides. And the ship's warning systems blared with a piercing screech.
"Boom!"💥
Ratchet threw his head in heads. Trying to block out the noise. Distract himself. But he couldn't. They're all gone. All those brave soldiers. Some very young. They had their whole lives ahead of them. But not now. Not anymore....
He could have saved them.
"BOOM!"💥
He could have saved them!
"BOOM!"💥
He could ha-
"BOOM!!!"💥
"RATCHET!" Prowl shouted. Ratchet yelled and threw an oil barrel at the ninja bot with his electro magnets. Prowl artfully dodged the projectile. He then raised his hands were Ratchet could see them.
"Calm down." He said soothingly.
"YOU CALM D-" Ratchet ceased his yelling and looked down. He was on the floor. When had that happened? His frame felt cold and shaky. And he felt lightheaded.
"What happened? You were on the floor, shaking when I walked by." Prowl inquired.
The final firework went off. Ratchet jumped. And finally, things went silent. Prowl was quickly able to deduce what had happened. The medic growled and slowly hauled himself on his feet.
"Nothing. Just my joints acting up."
Prowl raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"It was just my joints, alright?!" Ratchet snarled in defense.
"Alright." Prowl said calmly. And he turned to leave. "However..." he turned to face him again, in the doorway. "If you need someone to talk too, let me know." And with that he left for his bedroom.
Ratchet huffed and turned back to his desk. With the quiet returned, he tried to get back to work. But the cold feeling in his chest cavity didn't quite go away. It was like his spark was covered in ice. He wondered if the others would get back soon. And he wondered why he wanted them to come back so soon. The sound of a garage door opening, paired with Optimus's voice, snapped him from his thoughts. He raced out of the med bay.
"Prime, you're back." Ratchet said, as he walked a bit too quickly into the common area.
"Hi Ratchet." Optimus said wearily. "Sorry to bother you at this time of night but-"
"What happened?" Ratchet sighed. Secretly though, he was happy not to go to bed yet. He couldn't sleep after that. He peeked around Optimus.
There was Bulkhead and Bumblebee. Absolutely soaked to the bone. Bumblebee was shivering and grumpy looking.
"Hi Docbot." Bulkhead said sheepishly.
"Y-yeah. Hi." Bumblebee said, between the chattering of his teeth.
Optimus sighed. "Can you help me dry them off?"
"What The Pit did you two do? Don't tell me you jumped in the lake at this time of night!"
"Fell in actually." Bulkhead said quietly.
"Because SOMEONE decided to swing his big wreaking ball around on a wood dock!" Bumblebee shouted.
"Oh hush up you two! Come on, let's get that water out of your insides before it corrodes your circuits." Ratchet said as he herded them towards the med bay. Somehow, despite being tired and cranky, he felt a bit better with them all home and safe. He didn't even notice the icy feeling in his chest fade away...

I cried writing this.🥲 I think this might be the saddest thing I've written. Also yes, this is named after that LOTR song. Lol. This drabble was a quite bit darker than my last one. (And longer.) I wanted to touch on Ratchet's War Trauma and PTSD. Something I've always found compelling about his character. Also, I couldn't help but notice that in the episode Nanosec, two characters were missing from the fireworks display scene. Prowl and Ratchet. Prowl had an obvious reason for not being there. Too loud. And at the time, he preferred to keep to himself. And Ratchet? Well, I imagine like most War Vets, loud explosion sounds couldn't possibly be good for their mental state. :( It got me thinking what was going through Ratchet's head when he heard those fireworks in the distance. And thus, this fic was born! I'm not an expert on War Veterans or War PTSD. Hopefully I did an okay job at portraying his struggles. Thanks for reading. (◕ᴗ◕✿) - JP
Hey! Thanks for your patience while I'm being a bit slow! I'll be trying to catch up a bit in the next few days and tossing up offers to get some more starters on the way, too. So many mutuals, so little time!
In the meantime, for those of you who'd prefer context on what's going on, there's a read more for that. If you'd prefer just to stick with rp and not worry, hey, no worries! Just don't click.
Uh, tw: explosions. And attempted murder, I guess.
Someone asked me why I got back into rp and I responded "well the building I was in got blown up". So anyway, the joke was that it wasn't a joke.
It just didn't get blown up as much as was perhaps initially intended. I also wasn't part of the group of people the perp was trying to kill- he just...didn't necessarily care that a bunch of innocents were there.
I was unfortunately pretty close to the blast when it went off. I'm physically fine, as is everyone else who was there. No one was seriously injured. It's just meant things have been messy thanks to...being right there, lol. Add the whole #trauma thing to the whole deal and I've admittedly had some stuff to deal with.
The situation at the moment gets quiet for a few weeks and then picks back up, so I can't even really say when it'll be over. Knowing the legal system, maybe I'll be lucky enough to see the end of it in like... two years.
So, please bear with me. Some days are better than others. There's a whole lot more good days than bad, but I'm still taking life a day at a time right now. This blog is genuinely a place I intend to keep fun and light-hearted, but if I go quiet for a few days, this is undoubtedly part of the reason why.

Coming at you with some ladder truck bombing from Rival Firefighters 🚒 . I have no idea if what I’m writing is working and flowing properly, but I’m writing? 😅
Prev snippet here (feel like it’s been forever since I shared something from my beloved au .. but the Eddie breakdown fic happened and kind of took all my writing beans haha)
By the time the police figured out a serial bomber Athena had been chasing’s final target was one Robert Nash, their Robert Nash, it was too late.
Dispatch had just gotten in touch with them, stating Bobby was trying to reach them and that it was important, when suddenly an explosion blew the ladder truck behind them onto it’s side. Stover slammed on the brakes of the fire engine, the vechile jerking to a halt as Eddie and the others watched in horror as flames engulfed the undercarriage of the ladder truck as it skidded to a stop.
They sat frozen in shock, their minds trying to comprehend what they had just witnessed. It wasn’t the first explosion Eddie had seen, hell he’d been in one, but the fear that gripped him as he remembered Buck had been riding in the cabin was almost suffocating.
Eddie climbed out of the engine, his body feeling like it was moving through molasses, as if the world had switch into slow motion. He opened his mouth to call for Buck, but the name got lodged in his throat, like it was afraid it’s call would not be answered.
He willed his body forward, needing to get closer to the wreckage, needing to find Buck.
Buck.
His best friend had given him an exuberant child like smile as he’d climbed into the cabin of the ladder truck when the alarm sounded, excited that he was riding shotgun. Eddie had made a joke about Buck keeping his head in the window like a good boy, Buck responding with his middle finger.
Eddie doesn’t want that to be the last memory he has of him. He doesn’t want a last memory, period.
Determined to pull Buck away from the pearly gates themselves if need be (he can’t imagine someone as good as Buck going anywhere else), Eddie grabs a medical bag and moves towards the overturned truck, each footstep feeling heavier than the last as his eyes search the wreckage for any sign of his partner.
Eddie could see four bodies spread around the wreckage, the firefighters having been thrown from the truck during the explosion. Three were a few metres from the truck and one was right by the busted cabin, and appeared to be pinned. As Eddie drew closer, he got a sinking feeling that the firefighter who was pinned was Buck, but before he was close enough to confirm it, Chim and Hen were pulling him back and away from where he needed to be. Couldn’t they see Buck needed his help? That their team needed their help?
“Let me go!”
He fought against their hold, throwing his weight forward as he tried to dislodge them, their hands feeling like heavy metal chains around him.
“Eddie! We can’t go out there!”
Hen’s voice carries a panicked urgency to it but Eddie’s mind is too focused on Buck, a constant loop of get to Buck, get to Buck, get to Buck playing over and over, for him to even register that Hen didn’t usually panic unless the situation was bad.
“We can’t- what are you talking about? Buck needs us!”
He redoubles his efforts, struggling against the arm wrapped around his chest.
“Do you not see the kid with the bomb strapped to his chest?!” Chim shouts, his voice right by Eddie’s ear.
Wait, what?
