Current Goal: Figure out how to stop the spell plague that resulted in her monstrous form and her family's deaths. She thinks that in finding the root of this problem, that in at least coming to understand it, it will cure her grief and guilt.
Personality:
✧ External: Despondent, distant, nervous. Promise was never very good at hiding her feelings. She's gotten plenty better at it; the townsfolk that survived the spell plague all believe she is simply grieving her family and adjusting to a completely new life. And she is, admittedly; her family would not recognize her now, by body or name. She'll never know if they would even have accepted her as she is. But those are all surface feelings. Feelings she expects to have, feelings she thinks others expect her to have. She is not being deceptive so much as using her grief riddled demeanor to keep people at arms length.
Promise tries to remain realistic in her expectations while keeping a sense of hope. She never wants to promise an outcome she can't guarantee, but she will reassure people that they will do their best. That no matter what happens, they did their best.
✧ Internal: Angry, determined, reckless. It's new, the anger. For so long, there was only grief. But as she felt the wild magic influence warping her body into this monstrous form, as she felt it course through her even long after the changes had ceased, anger came with it. It was unfair that she lost her family the way she did, unfair that only after she'd been warped into some monstrous amalgam, that she would find herself. So much had been robbed from her, by time, by the people around her, by the spell plague. So she is angry, and determined to understand, if nothing else, why this all happened to her. If she can, she'd like to reverse it as well.
Promise does not come across as a confident person, but in moments where she feels she is close to finding answers or understanding, much of that cautious nervousness goes out the window. There's an extent to which it would even seem that she doesn't fear death; a helpful but yet dangerous trait to have for an adventurer.
Favorite -
Food: Freshly baked breads, especially spiced breads with fruit in them. She's not particularly fond of overly sweet things, like pastries, but a nice slice of a harvest loaf is perfect.
Color: Orange. The color of sunsets, the color of tiger lilies, the color of fire.
Music: Echoing metal tones. Kalimbas, rain drums, hand pans, that sort of thing. Soft and gentle music that is easy to play and enjoy alone.
Season: Winter. Despite preferring summer blooms and autumn food, winter is Promise's favorite time of year. She loves solitude. Spending a nice morning, wrapped in a quilt, watching the snow fall with a hot cup of tea in her hands is her favorite place to be.
Time of Day: Early morning, when the birds are singing and the rest of the world is yet waking up. There is an easy peace to those early hours.
Least Favorite -
Food: Fish. She used to be a fisher, and she was good at it. Unfortunately, it was much of what her family ate before the spell plague. Since then, she's grown to loathe it. It kept her from her family for so many weeks, it kept her from being there for them, and now it only reminds her of where she wasn't when they needed her.
Color: Red. Deep reds. The color of her dead daughter's hair, the color of her dead wife's teeth, the color of the old wood floorboards in her house she had to have replaced.
Music: Loud tavern music. It's not so much that the music itself is bad, but Promise is rather afraid of large crowds, and she typically only encounters this type of music in large, loud crowds of rowdy people.
Season: Summer. Simply, it is too hot. It was too hot before, and it's even worse now with her fur and bulk.
Time of Day: Mid-day. Too many people about, too many awkward interactions to have to dodge. She'd much rather wait for later at night when the crowds begin to disperse, or until the next morning before everyone is out and about for the day.
Traits:
- Her tiefling form is a combination of several animals, namely some sort of antelope, a badger, and a monkey.
- Her favorite tea is chamomile lavender.
- Despite her love of bread, she can not bake herself. She is a terrible, terrible cook and should barely be left in charge of a fire let alone the food cooking over it.
- Her wife left behind an unfinished quilt. As a result, Promise has picked up quilting as a hobby, hoping to one day finish the blanket. While she's gotten better at quilting, she has yet to touch her wife's last project, out of fear of making a mistake.
- She keeps a yellow butterfly fishing lure on her person at all times, a leftover sailor's superstition to have a good luck lure.
