Keathan, Haurchefant, and Tuesday - Twain Miracles
"I do not consider.... any part of you replaceable, my friend.... Least of all your smile."
Tuesday and Ishi belong to @candycryptids. Writing under the cut.
Keathan was already tearing off their gloves, hat blown off in their rush to get to Haurchefant's side as his hand falls limp held between Tuesdays. "I-I-I need aether! Whatever you can spare!" They don't hesitate to plunge their hand in between rent metal, torn cloth, and parted skin- without a weapon left behind there was nothing to staunch the bleeding-
A clatter of armor and footfalls surround them, but it falls on deaf ears. "Tuesday- Tuesday I'm sorry, I need-" They heave a breath in, bitter tears spilling as they draw on their well of mana and cut off the supply powering Tuesday to redirect it into Haurchefant's wound. He falls to the ground with a heavy metal thud, formless fingers still holding Haurchefant's hand as his eyes dim.
"Keathan, I'm with you!" Alphinaud says, holding out a hand to channel more aether into them. The solid weight of Kizuna's hand spans their back, glowing bright. Keathan works quickly, stitching muscle and bone and organ and vein back together, not having the luxury of time to remove things they normally would nor make it seamless. Their hand comes out soaked in blood. More, I need more-
They draw upon their aether again, vision blinking dark as their well overflows. "It's healed enough, but-" they gasp, Haurchefant's form shimmering aether blue. Keathan spits the worst words they know, spread across half a dozen languages.
"NO! No, godsdamn you Haurchefant- You are not replaceable either, do you hear me?! You don't just- You don't get to say that to him and then leave-" Blood drips from their nose as their limbs go numb and they swat Ishi's comforting hand away, nails clipping into his palm.
"You're just as important to him as I am- He has only just begun, and you won't stay to see where his journey goes? Do you refuse to be a part of it?! Stay- I said STAY HERE."
Their shrieked demand get easily lost to the howling winds on the bridge. Keathan falls unconscious on top of Haurchefant's body when they try to draw mana a fourth time. The shimmering fades, but his eyes are dull. His breath remains still. His heart no longer beating.
The next someone looks at Haurchefant Greystone's face his eyes are closed, and he looks peaceful in death... so peaceful he almost looked, eerily, asleep.

Hoooogh. This one took a long time. Hope you enjoyed it if you read it!
Follow up by my husband that's more about Tuesday can be found [here]
Since the day Tuesday was fully operational, there was no feeling he enjoyed more than the warmth of a cup of hot cocoa against his heat sensors. Nearly a decade later, it's still his favorite.
