TWARDOWSKY 2.0
A few weeks ago we offered up Part 1 of this stunning and entertaining film. That first half was just a taste of the full story, as 2.0 gives us a polished product that works better than most films you see getting dumped in theaters. Filmmaker Tomasz Bagiński delivers again!
Okay but can we please take a moment to appreciate a series of short movies based on Polish legends called (simply) Legendy Polskie?
Polish cinematography isn’t spectacular. We have good productions but when it comes to special effects, we are unfortunately far behind other countries. Most of good Polish movies are either comedies, whodunits or historical productions. It’s easy to count fanatasy or science fiction films because there is so little of them.
And then, Legendy Polskie appeared.
Those are five short movies (the longest one is about 20min long), re-telling classic Polish legends, taking creatures and people from old tales and putting them straight into XXI century. Not only are they nicely told (plot wise) but also both special effects and soundtrack are amazing.
All of them are directed by Polish master of short form, Tomasz Bagiński (Thomas Baginsky), who is best known from his short movies Cathedra and Fallen Art (which I highly recommend by the way, it’s a feast for your eyes).
All of them are available on YouTube with English subtitles and in HD. I don’t know how many of you will give them a chance but I think it’s a good shot. You can watch them in whatever order you want but I personally recommend “Twardowksy - Smok - Twardowsky 2.0 - Bazyliszek - Jaga“ for the best experience (also friendly advice: whatch till the very end).
TWARDOWSKY - PART 1
Calling this a short would be a disservice to the film. Impressive is the obvious thing that comes to mind while watching this. Feature-level production quality and special effects, makes you think you’re either watching the opening to a movie or an entry in a TV series. Polish filmmaker Tomasz Bagiński has created a series of films, two of which we’ve already spotlighted in BASILISK and SMOK. If you’ve seen those you know TWARDOWSKY won’t let you down!

Jest taka legenda u nas w Polsce o człowieku, który przechytrzył samego diabła i żyje po dziś dzień na księżycu… To o nim ta opowieść… (jest więcej)
There is a legend here in Poland about a man who outwitted the devil and is still living on the moon … This is a story about him (there is more - I’ll show you soon)
This is the best thing I’ve ever seen.
You can watch it with English subtitles!
