The Walking Dead x 🖕| Memories
Rosita and Tara enjoying the rain for part 5B! I’ve been really wanting to do some more darker (color wise) scenes so this rain was the perfect opportunity!
I got a bit lazy with the background. Unfortunately the Big Sad ™️ has hit me and my motivation to draw is completely crumbling.
For those of you who saw my Sasha wip, it’ll be done in a few days hopefully.
Check below the break for a speed paint!

Rosita shivered in the cold night of Alexandria, the cold air not doing much to comfort as she stared into the night sky. She couldn’t sleep, she would just constantly toss and turn while her mind race. She eventually gave up, making an attempt to go for a walk— thinking about stopping by to see a friend but it was late and she was too tired. Besides they were probably asleep and she wouldn’t want to brother them. So instead, Rosita sat on her porch instead. Having a blanket draped over her while she looked up at the moon, hoping it’s magic would make sleep to take over her.
Tara couldn’t sleep well either. She didn’t know why, she was eternally grateful for the things she had! Walls, food, water, a home of her own, however: her mind couldn’t shut off. She walked on the empty roads, her jacket keeping her warm as the wind danced with the loose ends of her hair. She stopped dead at her tacks when she caught Rosita sitting under the moon’s light and, god.. she was so beautiful. The moon’s blue lighting complimented her clear skin— something Tara could see in the distance. She nearly choked on her spit when Rosita caught her in a glaze, Tara played it casually, smiling and waving hi before jogging over to her, sitting down right next to her.
“Hey!” Tara grinned. “What are you doing up so late?” She asked.
Rosita loved Tara’s simple worry, she loved her presence in general. Tara was always there to make the bad thoughts go away— comforting her with simple reminders and insanely bad jokes. It was rare to have a friend like Tara. Rosita felt her heart flutter when she caught Tara’s staring, her innocence making her night.
“I could ask you the same.” Rosita said in response.
“Can’t sleep.” Tara sighed, wrapping her arms around herself to keep warm.
“Me too.” Rosita nodded.
The girls stood there, chatting whatever nonsense they could chat about, telling each other’s day, how they felt about their apocalyptic lives and of course Tara cracking jokes here and there, to lift up Rosita’s spirits. Then, the wind brushed by them a little too strongly, gripping on their fabrics for warmth.
“Well, that’s a sign to head back inside.” Tara said, Rosita nodded. Her heart drop when she saw Tara getting up to mostly head back home, holding onto her arms to maintain the heat.
“Hey, um.. Tara.” Rosita called out to her attention.
“Yeah?” Responded Tara, her eyebrows clenching in concern when she saw Rosita wondered expression, her eyes not meeting hers— something that was unlike her.
“Do you mind staying here?” Rosita asked in a small whisper like she was hesitant to speak. “Just for the night.” She clarified.
“You don’t have to, I’d just.. really appreciate the company.” Tara felt a single butterfly fly within her stomach, reaction seeing Rosita in state she wasn’t too used to seeing; vulnerability.
Of course Tara has seen it before, they were friends after all and they trusted each other. But for some reason, it felt different. Tara couldn’t quite put her hand on why but just that gut tells her so.
“No.” Tara choked out. “As in ‘no, I don’t mind.’ “ she giggled at herself, to make the fumble less awkward.
That’s weird— why am I so nervous? Tara thought to herself, while she placed her hands in her jacket. Playing with the fabric inside. She had flirted with Rosita many times before so, what so different now? Was her vulnerability? Was it that Rosita bright smile that never fails to make Tara weak. Was it her kindness? An act of opening the door for her, letting her stay the night in her home? The whole ordeal made Tara’s head spin. But still, she played it nonchalantly: keeping her hands to herself while following Rosita like a lost puppy as if it was her first time meeting Rosita and being in her home— looking at the interior as if she was in a museum. Rosita tried her best not to laugh at Tara, and her adorable, flustered, behavior. Rosita has always known about Tara’s crush on her— anyone who is around them did, Tara wasn’t very good at hiding it. But they didn’t treat each other any differently. Sure, Tara said remarks to Rosita a couple times but it was just flattery to her, truly, they didn’t mean anything. Until now.
Rosita caught herself thinking about Tara more times than usual, she lost track of time whenever they hung out. Tara’s flirty comments infected her more than usual and Rosita couldn’t stop herself from grinning ear to ear whenever she was around. At first, Rosita thought it was just appreciation for a friend. However, she had felt this bubbly feeling and she remembered it. It was the same exact one she had whenever she was with Abraham. She realizes that. So now she was just.. curious?— she doesn’t know if that’s the right word— however, she was hesitant. What if this bubbly feeling is nothing more than appreciation? What if she’s confusing it with something else? What if she’s unhappy with it? Rosita knows that would break Tara’s heart and last thing she wanted to do was ever hurt her like that. But that was her brain talking, her heart was telling her different.
As time passes the two got comfortable again, sharing laughter in Rosita’s room like they were teenage girls having a sleepover. Gossiping; telling stories about unfortunate encounters they had with men in the past. Tara served as a gentle reminder of Rosita’s feelings—a sign. If it weren’t for Tara, Rosita’s thoughts would’ve definitely engulfed her the entire night. Tara could not get over Rosita’s natural beauty. Her eyes brightened under the lamp’s small light, helping highlight her gorgeous smile and the glossing of her lips. Tara’s thoughts got interrupted when Rosita yawned slightly in the mist of her charming laughter.
“Sorry, am I boring you?” Tara only teased, resting on her head on her shoulder.
“You never bore me.” Rosita chuckled, as the words ringed in Tara’s ears. Tara shifted from her position, leaving the mattress while Rosita’s gaze followed her.
“It’s getting late, I’mma head to bed.” Tara said as she stretched. “Umm.. do you have a blanket I could borrow?” She asked, arms in the air.
“What?” Rosita blinked in confusion.
“A blanket, I was going to sleep on the couch.” Tara confirmed.
“You can sleep here, it’s fine.” Rosita rolled eyes even though her heart was roaring against her chest for even suggesting that. Tara almost looked at her like she was crazy.
“..Are you sure?” Tara asked, her voice low to hide the shaking.
“Yeah I’m sure, it’s fine. The couch is uncomfortable anyways.” Rosita insisted, opening up the blankets.
Tara still hesitated, but there were no other options. So she took Rosita word.
“Okay.” She nervously mumbled. sliding into the covers, and seeking her head into the pillow.
“Comfortable isn’t it?” Rosita said, teasing and Tara just nodded.
The girls didn’t know what to do, orn did they know what to say; they just stared into each other’s eyes, analyzing the details of their faces, too scared to say a single word. Rosita was waiting for Tara to say something, do something because she always does, but it seems like she just froze— unlike her. The overwhelming pressure made Tara shivered ever so slightly, feeling her strong heartbeat coursing through her veins. Tara was preparing to turn, to give Rosita some space, however Rosita scooted closer to Tara: wrapping her arms around her waist, resting her head on her chest.
“What are you doing?” Tara whispered, her voice matching the nervousness shaking in her body.
“You’re shivering, I’m just trying to keep you warm” Was Rosita’s excuse, as basked in the feel of Tara’s skin on her cheek. Her warmth panting all over her Rosita’s
Tara struggled with her breathing, not being able to her sight on off of Rosita. She was breathing so softly onto her, looking so peaceful. Eyelids kissing her under-eye while she rested on Tara like she was the softest pillow Rosita ever rested on. Baby hairs stood up on Tara’s arm when Rosita gently run her fingers down her back. Tara had no idea what to do with her hands. She wanted to cup her cheek that had the night sky glow on it shining from the blinded windows, but instead she— very slowly— draped her arm over Rosita. Her fingers reaching to play with the ends her silk-like hair. Rosita smiled at the nice gesture as she listened to Tara’s thumping heartbeat, matching her own. Tara eventually did get more comfortable, moving up to tickle Rosita’s scalp on her neck, letting the hair strings fall down to her back as she brushed the knots out. Rosita eyes were becoming heavy—the atmosphere was calm and Tara’s touch loosen the tension in Rosita shoulders, helping rocking her to sleep. But the sweet adrenaline rush of being this close to Tara is what kept Rosita awake; It proved to Rosita about her feelings for Tara. Her brain can make more attempts of finding excuses and coverups but the evidence was there. Loud and clear. Rosita never felt so safe in someone else’s arms like Tara’s. It was like the world shut off so there’s was nothing bad that could happen to her while she was sheltered in Tara’s care.
“Estás tan caliente..” Rosita couldn’t help but blurt out— The sentence confirming to Tara that she was awake.
“Rosita.” Tara called, receiving a ‘hm’ in response.
“Not that I’m complaining, but you know you could’ve told me you wanted to cuddle,” she said; looking down to see Rosita eyes open and on her—listening.
“..and tell me why.” Tara asked.
Tara knew Rosita wouldn’t be the type of girl to mess with her like that, she trusted her but it doesn’t make her any less flustered and confused; and Tara dealt with this before, she didn’t want to go through it again. It was scaring her, even more so when it looked like Rosita was trying to find her words.
“Well..” Rosita started, taking a breath. “I couldn’t sleep.. and I need your company” She said.
“Why me?” Tara asked, founding that key-word
“Because I couldn’t stop thinking about you.” Rosita confessed, officially digging herself into a hole.
Tara she couldn’t believe what she heard, her eyebrows frowned in confusion and doubt. She looked at Rosita for clues: her brown eyes that twin with her own, widen and sparkled in Tara’s glaze, full of yearning. Tara also saw a hint of blush that blended in Rosita cheeks— it does mean what she thinks it means.
“Oh.” Was all Tara could say, understanding but she still couldn’t believe it though.
“Yeah.. ‘oh’. “ Rosita nodded, confirming.
“Um..” Tara said, collecting her thoughts. “I’m sorry for keeping you awake..?” She tried, making Rosita laugh.
“Is there any way I could make it up to you?” Tara’s demeanor changed, challenging her confidence— her own and Rosita’s.
“No, you just being here is enough.” Rosita said in a fit of giggles, not understanding what Tara was trying to ask before she saw that look in her hazel eyes. Rosita felt her stomach flip at the sight.
“Actually.. there is one thing.” Rosita accepted, her view lowering down to her lips.
“Yeah?” Tara questioned, even though she knew.
After a small moment, the girls closed the gap between them— lips touching with such delicacy, like the other would break with any mount of force. Tara stood completely still, a light grip Rosita’s shoulder, basking in the soft feel while butterflies practically swim in her belly, making her nearly nauseous and feeling like she was floating. Rosita sang on her mouth, her heart joining the melody while she placed a hand on Tara’s, smiling at the similar rhythm she felt on her hand. When they pulled away, they couldn’t stop smiling and giggling— relief of not hiding affection anymore. Taking each other’s other hands they finally able to sleep, hours before the rising sun. Although the sun’s warmth already reach them.
my actual genuine critiques of The Walking Dead
hey im about to watch TWD series finale and had some things i wanted to talk about here! also disclaimer, i think TWD is a fantastic show. there's not many shows i can say ive avidly watched for eleven straight seasons and not been bored by (i abandoned Supernatural after season 7). it's one of the most famous shows in cable history for a reason! but there are some things i thought were weird or just...? never brought up again? also, i have not watched ANY of the spinoffs yet, so if any of these are addressed in another series, lmk!
idk if ill get flamed for this but i did not like how Michonne was written. this is NOT me saying i didn't like Michonne, i adore her and she's a good character. but i don't feel that they developed who she was prior to the apocalypse enough. what details were given felt thrown-in and weren't very fleshed out. a lot of her significance is entirely tied to Rick and their relationship. i don't even remember if they gave her a last name. this is excusable for some characters who are mostly supporting cast members, but Michonne is a MAIN character. like guys. idk maybe some things just got lost in translation?
im not super critical of this one, but i wish they had fleshed out the significance of Daryl and Leah's relationship a little more. it felt like he moved on from that a little fast. like that is the ONLY real romantic relationship he's ever had and once he killed her it was just... done. idk it felt a little one-and-done to me
i just generally want to see more of RJ? why does no one ever talk about RJ? his momma disappeared and they just stopped caring about him like guys Where Is He
again, im not very critical of this one because Annie was introduced in the last half of the last season, so that's not a lot of time for... anything, but like, i didn't fully understand where she came from or when Negan met her. it's possible that i just got confused because of all the time skips that happened in s11 but . when did you meet her and how did you get married and pregnant this fast. but maybe a detail got lost in translation for me?
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHY DID DARYL DANCE AROUND CONNIE like i just DO NOT understand what the purpose of EXPLICITLY stating that Daryl wanted her just for Nothing to happen. like im not sure what the point was. and why not? the ONE healthy relationship that he's been offered this whole time? like Hello?
i AM critical of this one: WHY did nobody mourn Tara?? or Enid? like the only person who mourned Enid was Alden and then he fucking Died? like i understand the big thing was Henry and yes that one hit me the hardest, but we moved on from Tara's death REALLY REALLY fast. like insanely fast. what are we talking about.
more minor thing but i wish Daryl and Carl had more screentime together when Carl was still alive ☹️
i never got the chance to care about Siddiq. like i was excited to get a new character and the fact that Carl had sacrificed SO much to help him (literally his own life) but genuinely he lasted what? a season and a half if that? yes he was the doctor and Rosita's baby daddy but. he was just the doctor and Rosita's baby daddy. and then he DIED and we moved on really fast! why??
ok that's all i got for you!! if any of this is just because I missed some major details somehow then tell me, maybe i need to rewatch?? idk
