I just had the most surreal moment as a brand new debut author!
Being small press, I wasn’t expecting Child of the Dragon to get barnes & noble placement or very many bookstores stocking it at all. I’ve been lucky to have two b&ns near me say they’ll do events but one is consignment (on saturday!!) and the other they order in but that one's not until June, and neither gave any indication they’d stock me outside of the signing. Which is fine! I haven’t been listed as in store anywhere near me since release last week, but then today I saw that the b&n I’m doing a signing at in June had book stock! I had a doctor’s appointment nearby so afterward I swung in and brought a couple bookmarks and stickers to go with the books. Figured there would be 1 or 2. MAYBE 3. Grabbed a couple extra bookmarks and stickers to give to the workers. I walk in and a worker immediately was like “hi welcome in how can I help you?” And I was like “uh, my book just came out and I was hoping to see it and maybe sign it. It said it’s in stock on the website.” And she went and looked it up and was like “oh! They just came in, we haven’t even put them out yet. Wow we ordered quite a few of them!” And then hurried off to go grab them and came back with a stack of TWELVE!! TWELVE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
she let me sign all of them!!!! I didn't have enough bookmarks or stickers, but I gave her what I had!
I'm absolutely floating right now!!
