'Twelve Gems' by Lane Milburn

Ok, I'm probably not gonna make any friends by saying this but I didn't enjoy Twelve Gems a whole lot.  Its not that the thing isn't a monster of a book, which it is, because its seriously fucking thick and its full of the kind of cross hatched crazy drawings that I love; so Ill say that, I fucking love the art because I do.  But in the realm of recreating the whole 70's sci/fi fantasy wrightson/frazetta/bissette/stout/bodé/starlin it just didn't win me over.  I'm pretty specific in my sci fi, any nerd is, and this didn't sing to me in the way I needed it to.  Maybe if there were really detailed cross hatched drawings of big penises and big boobs, I dunno.  Because I've got a lot of other stuff in this vein by Milburn (in some closed caption comics anthologies, I think?) that I really dig, this one just missed the mark for me.  Its kinda how you've got the three camps of prog rock; do you like, rush, king crimson, or yes?  I'm a king crimson fan, I can't stand rush or yes.  But I'm still friends with a lot of people who like rush and yes.
