This week in “stupid thoughts I have had”:

River Song singing “Fly Me to the Moon” to The Doctor (like, any incarnation of The Doctor).

The Doctor didn't have time to react before River moved in front of him. The leader of the alien incursion was on the rampage, and the Time Lord stood directly in his way, making him an exceptional target.

Blue eyes went wide, and he grabbed River's wrist. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" he demanded, prominent brows furrowed over a sharp gaze. "You'll get yourself killed!"

How I want the Doctor Who 2015 Christmas Special to go down:

The Doctor is moping about Clara, just doing the stuff he can to distract himself from mourning. I imagine he's still saving worlds, but that doesn't mean he has to be nice about it. He's just a depressed wreck trying to move on, but he's missing something.

Somehow, the Doctor meets up with River. I imagine it's at some sort of ballroom thing, some formal party, a Winter Gala. Just look at River's stunning outfit! Of course, the Doctor is shocked and bewildered. An old friend (of course way, way more) returning after a recent one (in my opinion, way, way more than a friend as well) passes.

Whether this takes place before or after River's death (I'd love it if this were set in the computer base the Tenth downloaded her into - the Doctor getting stuck there somehow), River recognizes the Doctor (because River always knew). When she catches on it, she tries to warm up to him, baring in mind he might not be the same man. Yet he seems a little too distant to her, trying to get closer, but something is tugging at his hearts' strings.

So, River forces a talk on him, and she is hurt by the news...not for herself, but for the Doctor losing Clara. So, she tries to make the most of his night. I don't think she'd flirt too much, but simply show the Doctor around, go on an adventure with him (obviously the Christmas Special needs an actual plot), stay at his side - just helping him along. The Doctor is cheered up, gains a bit of a new perspective, at least returns to some form of happiness.

Then it's time for them to part. I imagine something wise is said between them, probably something about Christmas memories (because memory is an important theme in Doctor Who and Christmas), but also New Year's Movings On. It's an emotional end, but it isn't goodbye, and neither Clara or River is forgotten, and neither shadows the other.

I kinda want Twelve in a kind of post-regeneration wooziness for a bit, so that in his first episode he keeps asking stuff like “who am I?” and Clara keeps reminding him and at one point all he remembers is River and idk I just want Clara to keep saying like “you’re the Doctor” really frustrated and he suddenly remembers and checks to make sure he has the sonic
