You know there's a lot of great things about Transformers WFC but one thing I think they missed out on was the backstory of Ratchet and Optimus' friendship where the two of them had known each other from almost the beginning and how Ratchet met Megatron right after Optimus introduced the two of them to each other.
Like imagine how the scenes would've gone.
Wheeljack casually suggesting they go get Ratchet who can fix anything
Optimus knowing he wants to stay out of the war due to his past friendship with both himself and Megatron.
Him begrudgingly agreeing
Optimus not pleeing for help or pushing his agenda out of respect for ratchet. Ergo Impactor would realize 'Oh hey Optimus isn't a pushy dick. That's....kinda cool!'
Ratchet seeing the desperation Optimus is trying to hide. Him glancing over at the really beaten up Autobots.
"Fine I'll do it, but don't let Megatron know. Good will is the only reason he hasn't torn my operation down."
Optimus resting a hand on his shoulder deeply grateful, "I wouldn't dream of it old friend."
Impactor now insisting on coming as a body guard not because he doesn't trust the Autobots with Ratchet's safety but because he doesn't like them and is kind of jealous.
Ratchet later asks why Optimus is so desperate to get the bridge working, and at first Optimus refuses to tell him.
It takes Ratchet dismissing Impact and cornering Optimus as the commander tries to leave. Optimus warning him that he may not like what he hears. "To the Allspark with that. You're reckless on a good day but this all is foolish Optimus. If I'm risking my neutrality I deserve to know why."
"It-its Megatron," Optimus begins to tell the sad story of what happened to Ultra Magnus and Megatron's plan to rewrite the code of all Autobots into those of decepticons and erase everything they were.
"That," Ratchet can't believe his words. "That's insane! Megatron has done many things but I refuse to believe he would cross such a line." Optimus solemnly admits he believed the same thing but shows the arena recording of Megatron explaining how that is his plan exactly.
Ratchet mutters about working faster and how he doesn't have time to chat the last of their moments away.
Optimus doesn't know what to say. There was no comfort for him when learned the news and he isn't sure if there is anything he can say to soothe Ratchet. So he walks away and hopes that their is something left of them from the 'good ole days'.
Megatron hearing that the bridge is working only to reason yet another ally from the past has betrayed him. (Bonus: That sad fucking expression he can do. You guys know the one!)
The final scene as everyone is fleeing for the ark is Ratchet not sure he should get on. He's still holding Impact's body. Elita has already decided she's going to stay and steps back to see this instense glare from Megatron to Optimus.
They both call out to Ratchet. It's time to choose. Their 'respect' will no longer keep them from forcing him to choose. That chance was lost the moment the Allspark got involved.
Ratchet sighs and says one final farewell to Impact's body before offering a last, sad, regretful look at Megatron.
It's in that moment that Megatron knows. His two closest friends have both chosen and it's to stand against him.
A few months ago maybe that would've made him question his decisions. Perhaps even change his mind, but it's too late for that now. Anger makes him resolute and he tries to kill the two as the ark's doors shut.
As the door shuts Ratchet's staring at the burnt marks Megatron's last blasts left on the wall. It's in that final moment that he realizes just how far his old friend has gone. He starts to believe what Optimus has told him but none of it hurts less.
After that he doesn't really leave the ark for the first few months they're on Earth. He speaks only when necessary unless Wheeljack or Optimus is around. His attitude turns into a sour form of grumpiness and Ratchet's never really the same.
Basically all I'm asking for is a reverse of those episodes from the prime series where Optimus loses his memories and Megatron and Ratchet fight over him. In this version it's Megatron and Optimus trying to get Ratchet to join their side in the war but both not trying to hard out of begrudging, mutual respect.
