a couple of folks sent asks regarding ships with the Flim Flam Brothers, so i thought it could be fun to talk about!! :3c i'm not deep enough into the series to speculate much on background characters and crackships, but i do have some thoughts on shipping them with the Mane 6:
besides shipping Flim with my OC Sugarfleece, my guilty pleasure is Flimlight/Twiflim, or Flim x Twilight Sparkle! 🥰💖 their interactions in Friendship University really crack me up, and i find something so intriguing about a bookish, straitlaced pony being charmed by a smooth-talking con artist...particularly with Flim canonically being the showier of the pair 😉
it's also canon that both Flim and Flam have a thing for librarians!! there's a very funny The Music Man reference in My Little Pony: Friends Forever Issue #9 where the brothers fight over the same pony, Marian (implied the Librarian). to clarify, i don't mind Flamlight/Twiflam at all!! it's just that according to Viva Las Pegasus Flam is the smarter brother, and i prefer the 'opposites attract' vibe of Flim being such a showpony and Twilight being this socially anxious know-it-all. it's cute!! 🙈💖
i'm also a big fan of Flamity/Rariflam, or Flam x Rarity! this one doesn't need much explaining: Rarity literally swoons when Flam speaks to her (what a mood) 🫠💖 whenever Rarity's expressed an interest in another pony it's always been a stylish, well-spoken type, and i think Flam's combination of good looks, charm and smarts would appeal to Rarity hugely 🥰
not to mention whatever was going on when she was pretending to be 'Plainity'...Rarity, you could have done a lot of generous things which weren't feeding him grapes? 🤔 i think in a genuine romantic scenario, Flam would treat Rarity like the lady she is! 💖
and of course i greatly enjoy the enemies-to-lovers hilarity of Flimjack/Appleflim and Flamjack/Appleflam (Flim or/Flam x Applejack) 😂💖 what's there not to love? the pony who represents the Element of Honesty falling for conponies who lie as often as they speak? not to mention the family drama, oh my god 😶 i can't tell whether i like to ship them with Applejack or headcanon them as distant, estranged Apple family members instead...either way, Applejack being subjected to their antics is always entertaining 🙈💖
