Jewel is one of the friends that Mika makes in Twilight Tides and will be an important cast member going forward. Let's get to know her a little:
Jewel's mother runs a Treasure-Diving company and requires all of her many children to work in the company for a time as interns. Her older siblings have moved up to managerial ranks, but Jewel has remained as a diver and carved out her own niche within her mother's company.
Jewel specializes in repairing items, starting with the human music box she recovered and got to work underwater, which she keeps in her room as a reminder of her talent.
Many have tried to commission her, but Jewel needs to see and pick out the item itself and see its potential to be able to work with it.
She lives in the shipwreck of a galleon that's been fully decked out
Jewel, true to her name, loves shiny jewelry and putting trinkets in her long hair.
It's said that her ancestors may have been pirate mermaids.
Jewel fancies herself a matchmaker and wants Talu and Mika to get together rather than Talu and Lumi
Talu is the main male lead in Twilight Tides and has recently undergone a few changes--so let's get to know him with some fun-facts!
Talu is a mysterious boy who's well-liked by the mer villages surrounding the Grand Palace. He's often running errands for members of the community, doing odd jobs, or competing with other village boys
Talu has a gift for befriending animals of the True Ocean and Undersea, the magical and the mundane alike. Sea turtles are his favorites.
Some jokingly call his animal friends his pets or menagerie, terms he insists again. They are his friends, free to come and go as they wish.
Secretly, he is Prince Tiberius, the Crown Prince to the Undersea
He was adopted by the High Queen Amphrite after her stint as a runaway princess on land, leading some to suspect he is actually her biological child by a human father--a forbidden relationship in Undersea politics. (He doesn't know the truth for sure)
Talu also likes to sneak out to the land
He really enjoys surfing as a result
He also cannot resist the siren song of fast food, and he will fight a seagull for French fries
He has a huge crush on Lumi and believes her mentor is really her captor (more on that when we meet Lumi)
He constantly has recurring dreams where he is running from something. He always wakes out before he finds out what.
