10. Kiss on the hand

Makoto was a bit nervous.

He had heard plenty of stories about the Royal Family for as long as he could remember, his family and close friends telling legends about Hyrule and the Royal Family since he was very small. He remembers dreaming of visiting the Kingdom one day.

That dream had now come true a few times, as he had become a knight of Hyrule. Well, not officially, the ceremony would make it official. And here he was, just moments away from obtaining his knighthood. The man before him had just entered the throne room of the Grand Throne Room a moment ago, and he watched as the servant who stood at the edge of the throne gave a small wave of his hand, signalling that it was his turn to enter.

There must've been nearly a thousand people seated around the enormous room, all watching him as he strode through, and the only thought that came to him was please gods, don't let me trip. He went over what they had been told to say to the Princess one final time, just making sure that he could remember it.

As he got closer and closer to the throne itself, he couldn't help but blush lightly. The Princess was every bit as beautiful as he had imagined, if not, more so. He finally came up to the throne and he knelt before the Princess, taking her hand into his, just as all of the knights in training had been taught.

"It would be my utmost honour to serve your kingdom, my Princess." He recited, keeping his voice as clear as possible. He then pressed a kiss to the back of the Princess's hand, keeping his head bowed in waiting for the actual knighting itself.

⤧ They were like ants. Where there was one, others followed.

→ The dragon's claws left long, charred marks where they scraped against the stone of the cliff he had perched upon to watch the human procession pass. Any other little group of Hyruleans so far from their kingdom and he wouldn't have bothered staying out of sight, but he had no desire to be caught in the air with this group underfoot. There was no mistaking who they were, nor did they seem to be hiding it.

→ This particular princess was unfamiliar to him, but he had recognized the divine heritage in her scent immediately.

→ She and her small escort were extraordinarily far east, and what they hoped to find among the cliffs that bordered the Eldin chasm he could only guess, but for as long as they were here he had every intention of laying low. His current task took precedence over starting any ill-fated quarrel with Hyrule.

I thought long and hard about this, but I can’t find a favourite! I absolutely adore the entire song, it’s one of my all-time favourites. Listen to it, you’ll know what I mean. “Good evening, Princess Zelda.” Peach greeted as she gave a polite curtsy.

Soon her white-laced digits pressed against her own lips to help suppress a dainty little giggle. Without any type of warning at all, Peach lifted Zelda up and threw her over her shoulder; turning on her heels and walking off as if this was something normal to do.

“Let’s go!” She cheerily called out despite Zelda having not much of a choice in this little ‘kidnapping’. “To my castle we go!”
