Oh, the pain~ I'm replaying the CLANNAD visual novel and I've no one to share funny bits with
Occasionally, I hear about an airplane accident and have to scour the wikipedia page for it. I blame it on my uncle and that history channel(?) show about said accidents.
Anyway, in the deadliest accident in Portuguese territory (Independant Air 1851, in 1989), 1) the plane smacked right into a mountain (crew error), 2) killed everyone on board, and 3) apparently spread metal and body parts all over said mountain. Oh, joy.
This was in Santa Maria, Azores. The second deadliest was TAP 425 (in 1977) in Madeira. Bad weather + crew error + short runway. The plane hydroplaned straight out of the runway, fell off a 61 m cliff onto the beach and caught fire. They've since extended the runway... What I've learned from this is that airports in mountainous areas are risky business... Perhaps Portela is a breeze to land on, idk.
Still watching the credits roll, but: She fought for them. She saw it all beforehand, saw her part through, but refused to let theirs end as foretold. Because she loved them. Her memory - physical and not - lead them all the way to the discovery of their own fate. And she committed her boys' story to stone and wood.
And after that, she left her love his own story. How it started and how it will go on. She painted him in her colour. He is worshipped. He is loved. He will know what that kind of love feels like. He has a role - one he never imagined, but one he will take. He has a reason to live.
To grieve deeply is to have loved fully. Open your heart to the world as you have opened it to me and you will find every reason to keep living in it.
He has a path. Both of her boys do.
And what’s funnier is that the prophecies DO come true. It’s just that characters made the wrong assumptions about them. A man wielding a spear leads the armies at Ragnarök and a bearded, bald man dies in Atreus’ arms. Brilliant.
“Fate only binds you if you let it”- no, but, actually. The characters kept saying it but only in hindsight do I realize how deep it goes. Truly the best way forward, even with some hint of the future, is to proceed as you would regardless. Make your own story and ignore if it matches the prophecies or it doesn’t. Or else you end consumed by thoughts of it (cough, Odin). And in the end it’ll come somewhat true without the details that YOU projected onto it.
I'm having so much fun with that zoo website.
Is fish? No. Is reptile? No. Is dolphin? No. Is carnivore? Yes. Is feline? No. Bear? Yes, which? Black? No. Polar? Yes, yay!
Is fish? No. Is reptile? Yes. Is bird? Yes!! Is chicken??? No, too far! Is ostrich? Not far enough! Is eagle, falcon, seagull, dove, flamingo? Nope!
(I don't know enough about bird families, my dude!!!)
(Then I realize I'm ignoring a very important group)
Is blackbird? Warmer. Is sparrow? Warmer.
(What's a cousin of a sparrow???)
Is blue jay? No, you absolute buffoon.
(Uuuuh, okay, small birds. Tweet, tweet. What about pet birds?)
Is canary? Yes, a yellow one, yay!
The Kratos as a bear and Atreus as a wolf motif. Solitary VS. pack creatures. Atreus' uncontrolled rage form being a bear. His controlled one being a wolf. And how by the end, much like his father learned to control his rage over the years, he learns to control even the bear form. 👏👏👏
The sheer cruelty and heart wrenching brilliance of releasing the Svartalfheim theme ahead of release so you'd recognize it and FEEL when it's played. What a beautiful scene.
