In response to the mirror theory: There is a lot of mythology around mirrors and the dead. In fact, it was customary to cover mirrors to prevent the soul of the recently deceased from being trapped in a mirror. That's why so many ghost stories involve mirrors, Bloody Mary being a popular one. Mirrors have been used to see the future historically. Vampires have no reflections because they have no souls. 7 years bad luck if you break a mirror. So your theory makes a lot of sense!

The possibility of souls getting trapped in mirrors could really explain Night Vale’s collective fear of them (or at least Cecil’s and his mother’s), and also explain why doubles are such a frightening concept.

also a bit off topic but if cecil never looks in mirrors anymore that would explain why he doesn’t see the resemblance between himself and Kevin, while other characters do, seeing as maybe Cecil himself has forgotten what he looks like. That’s also why his descriptions of himself are so vague, usually only focusing on what he’s wearing (which of course he knows because he picks out his outfits himself) and the fact that he’s not tall and not short.

Goodness gracious Okay, let’s do this. 

Going under cut because this is gonna get hella long

1. Your first OC ever?In elementary school, I had a couple (Cassie, Lucy, and Nichole). Dark times indeed. 

2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?I really love Brylee. Like, more than I should????

3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else?lmao Jade. I redesigned Jinx from Teen Titans, combining her comic book version with the one from the cartoon. Same with Wesley (except he’s based off of Wally West, aka Kid Flash).

4. A character you rarely talk about?I guess Thorne? Which is weird, he’s the counterpart to Brylee and the protagonist of the story itself????5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be? Jade. I’ve dedicated so much time and thought into her. She’s flawed and perfect and ugh I just love her so much.

6. Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related?Jade and Emery. Jade’s supposed to be Indian whereas I haven’t decided specifically which country Emery’s ancestors are from, but he’s dark skinned and has purple eyes. 

7. Are your OCs part of any story or stories?Yes. All of them have their own stories. 8. Do you RP as any of your OCs? If you do, introduce one of your RP OCs here!I don’t rp as any 1 specific character, as a lot of my rp friends will know. 

9. Would you ever be willing to give any of your OCs to someone else?Maybe someone like Harlon or Jaaron, mainly because they’re really great characters, and I love their designs, but I have others I love a lot more and these two don’t get as much love.10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design? Alrighty. Well Thorne is probably the most complicated. Thorne was scarred pretty badly when he was a baby and he can’t see out of his right eye. His face has burn marks all down that side of his face, and a couple of deep scars across his lips and over the bridge of his nose. He’s complicated because his scarring is so specific and because of what he wears to cover up. He’s kind of like an anti-hero of sorts and he wears a mask and armor and stuff. 11. Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a "sunshine"? Wesley, sweet precious angel baby.

12. Name an OC that isn't yours but who you like a lotThis one’s so hard b/c I’ve seen a lot of amazing OCs, I just can’t remember them ;u;. I’d probably say someone’s gemfusion though, those things are always amazing.

13. Do you have any troublemaker OCs? Geez, Emery is a piece of work, I’ll tell you that. He’s a cocky asshole if I’ve ever written one. 

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory (Don’t wanna spoil Jade’s story, so I’ll do Brylee’s instead).Brylee’s parents were pretty cool. Her mother worked at the local hospital as a nurse whereas her father was a fireman after finishing up a couple tours over seas. Her father had PTSD but tried to hide it from his family for as long as possible. Now Brylee, being the adorable chubby girl we all know and love, never was the popular at her school. Middle school was especially tough for her. During that time, her father failed to rescue 6 children from a burning house and the sounds of their screaming the crying voices never left his mind. While she was in 6th grade, he killed himself. That left a lot of heart break in the family. Her mom tried to feel better by working all the time, and eventually she did recover from losing her husband. Brylee, still alone, was bullied at school and took it out on herself, the reminder permanently etched on her skin. 

15. Do you like to talk about your OCs with other people? I try to, but I honestly feel like people wouldn’t really care about them anyway so.....I mean, I talk about Jade and Wesley a lot to my sisters, mostly because Wesley was also inspired by my youngest sister. But my friends don’t care. I’m trying to get people to actually be interested in them, because they’re so amazing, but I’m the only one who thinks it so......uhhh, that’s a problem.

Cecil opened his eyes and remembered he didn’t have a brother, or rather, that he wasn’t supposed to have a brother. Blind patting of his nightstand yielded his phone, and he stared at it in the dark, scrolling until he reached his brother’s name in the contacts list, still there after all this time. There were eyes on him, surely, eyes of anyone with access to the hidden cameras in his home, of which there were many, both cameras and people watching.

For once - fueled by nostalgia and recklessness and a deep, internal longing that had been eating at him since he’d found that damned cassette tape of his youth that had only grown wider as event after event transpired against him - he did not care who saw him or what the consequences of his next actions would be. He pressed call and held the phone to his ear, heart pounding hard and fast against his ribs as he prayed he would hear his brother’s voice outside of dreams before whatever secret police broke the door down to stop him.

Cecil looked at his intern in horror, not daring to move a muscle in case he set her off accidentally.

“What was that you were saying about me not being able to take this Thursday off for my date?” she asked, her voice sickeningly sweet as she dangled the handwritten manuscript precariously over her lit zippo.

“Okay! Okay, you can take the night off, just- just put the fanfiction down,” Cecil pleaded. “I haven’t even gotten to type that one yet, and I promised Carlos I’d send him the next chapter!”

1. What is something you have always wanted to do in your life but haven’t done?

I have always wanted to graffiti something really meaningful and that makes me happy. And to do it somewhere in my hometown before I leave for college. 

2. (I know this is cliche but I am genuinely curious.) What is your favorite color?

Blue, but also purple.

3. If you could pick three people from all of history to the present day to have lunch with. Who would you choose?

Paul McCartney, Freddie Mercury, and Abraham Lincoln. Don't ask why.

4. If the Doctor were to show up and ask you to pick anywhere in all of time and space to go in his TARDIS where would you go?

I would either go to some cool alien planet, go to Victorian London, or go to the 40's through 80's. More likely one of the first two, tho.

5. What is one thing you think the world would be better off with if it vanished?

Mosquitoes.

6. What would is your greatest fear? (If that’s not too personal)

To have no purpose and to be absolutely meaningless.

7. What is your favorite dessert?

Ooooh probably chocolate cake! :)

8. What is your first memory of me? (I’m pretty sure we’ve all meant in person at least once with the exception of reckling-turtle and rantingsmurf)

Omg when we were backstage for Sound of Music and Tabor introduced you to us, but mostly Halley and Lauren, I remember you were wearing something fandom-related but I don't remember what, but I knew I liked you. 

9. What fantasy world do you want to live in?

I would love to be an half-blood, but I would probably die and not have a cool god/goddess parent, so maybe like going to Hogwarts would be cool. 

10. Is there a place where you feel most like yourself and most comfortable? If so, where is it? (Again if it is not too personal)

Definitely when rehearsing for shows and hanging out with theater people. Doesn't really matter where, but with whom.

11. What to you would be an ideal world?

A world where I could eat as much as I wanted and not get fat. And also the culture of the 50's but minus the sexism/racism/homophobia/anything else morally bad.
