"Parry this."

This is also now what, the 3rd consecutive Twin Lance nerf in a row?
These are two crisis commanders, and somehow they are now one of most expensive units T'au can field. Right now the only things more expensive than them (at now 220p) are:
Manta (2100p)
T'au'nar Supremacy Armor (790p)
Stormsurge (375p)
Forgeworld Tigershark (315p)
A 3-stack of Broadside Battlesuits (255p)
Out of these at least 3 are either not fieldable in a normal game or niche joke picks. So that makes them technically the 3rd most expensive unit in the faction after the Stormsurge and the Broadsides. For two little suits - and they are STILL an auto-include because the army rule design is so bad that you need a unit that can spot and shoot without it.
See this is what happens when you screw up a codex. You literally cannot balance anything. Final proof for the ineptitude of the illiterate imbecile who wrote that book 3 years ago.
Finally finished my Twin Lance. Overall super stoked with the result
Predictions for 500 Worlds (that isn't going to happen, but might be interesting).
The campaign has reached a tipping point. The following battles could go either way.
Titus, knowing what is at stake, calls for aid. But no space marine chapters answer. Not through malice, but they all committed elsewhere. There is no one left to aid them.
Then, at the edge of Ultramar's borders, a lone void ship appears. But not human. Eldar! It transmits a message.
"Ultramar must stand. The nightbringer must not be allowed to reform."
And as if from nowhere, a new fleet appears. The t'au. A fleet diverted from the fifth sphere expansion, led by the Twin Lance, Sunsear and Scatterflare. Guided through the Web way by Eldred himself.
They launch an assault at the rear of the Necrons forces, trapping them against bulwark of the Ultramarine chapter.
Faced with being caught between two enemies, the Necrons withdraw. Leaving the nightbringer incomplete.
Titus sends his thanks, and graciously allows the t'au to withdraw. But they decline. This is a fleet of the fifth sphere. They are not going anywhere.
A series of worlds along the edge of ultramar are occupied. Having been mauled by the Necrons, the Ultramarines lack the strength to push them out.
Best to get used to the new neighbours, Titus. The t'au are here to stay.
“I dunno, there’s something about adult twins that I find a little immature,” Lance says, completely unprompted. “You’re grown now, y’know? Pick one of you to die. There’s no need for two of you.”
Everyone blinks at him, except for Hunk, who is used to this kind of thing and just sighs and goes back to his blueprints. Keith can’t quite let it go so easily.
“…Lance, you are a twin.”
“Yeah, and once I get back to Earth, Rachel and I are gonna duel to the death.”
“Don’t you think that’s a little… imbalanced?” Pidge asks, eyeing Lance’s bayard. “I mean, one of you is a little more dangerous than the other, I’d think.”
“I dunno. I think I might actually have a chance with all the paladin training! I don’t actually think I’m going to win, or anything, but at least I’ll die with honour.”
Pidge turns to Hunk, who hasn’t even looked up. “…I can’t tell if he’s kidding.”
“I wish he was.”
It is hillarious that the Twin Lance does not have the Leader or the Lone Operative rules. They don't command or lead anything, they are not specialists of any sort. They are just here to fight and kill stuff and happen to be insanely good at it.
The Ethereals desperatly needed someone to fill the propaganda role previously occupied by Farsight and just took the closest most unstable bisexual disaster pair of murderhobos and threw them to the frontlines. And somehow that worked.
Done for now, at least now it won't look too shabby on the table. Should count as "battle-ready" I think...
Commander Shadowsun will be in for such a shock when she realizes that among T'au Battlesuit Commanders it is not that she is the only "normal" one surrounded by total weirdoes, but in fact she is weird for being the only "normal" person who made it into that position.
First there was "melee combat Farsight" breaking such a massive cultural taboo with using the sword alone that even just mentioning him can get T'au arguing, not to mention the entire Enclaves situation. But he was just one guy among the famous commanders, clearly an outlier.
Also at the time there was Vesu'r R'alai who was already a weirdo for using a XV-09 Hazard Suit, but that is only a cute little detail given that the one thing he was remembered for is what a brutal and ruthless madman he was.
And now we get "The Twin Lance" of Scatterflame and Sunsear who's main driving force of being a pair of highly efficient murder-hobos (which is mostly how Mont'ka as combat doctrine appears to Kau'yon tacticians) is being a couple of bisexual disasters mourning the death of their shared partner.
As it turns out being a successful Supreme Commander is not a position sane people tend to achieve, which makes it even weirder for O'Shassera to be on this spot for this long. Does she secretly wonder if there is also something wrong with her and she just has not noticed yet?
