Brother x Brother shipcest concept: Older brother is in the closet and decides to come out despite his better judgement, and is immediately kicked out by his parents. Younger brother packs a bag and sneaks off, and the two run away together.
They have adventures on the road, camping at national parks, meeting other nomads and vagabonds. Somewhere along the way, something changes in younger brother. At first he can’t put his finger on it, just a strange stirring in his chest, a buzz in the air. He starts looking at older brother differently. At some point it clicks for him that he might be gay too… but then the next realization hits him like a ton of bricks. He comes to it as he gazes at older brother from across the campfire. He’s in love with him.
I need to vent about something real quick, and Idk, I *might* be going against the grain just a tick, but I gotta get this off my chest. This is gonna be a bit of a long one.
There's this whole thing about engagement on ao3 fics, everyone's heard it by now, if you like a fic then comment, tell the author you liked it because that's what keeps them posting, and it's true! I have absolutely had my passion revived by a well-timed and/or well-written comment before. I read every single comment on my works and try to reply to each one. Kudos are good, but comments are better.
That said... please be normal in your comments on fanfics.
A couple years ago, I posted a fic, and I was really proud of it, I still am. I have crazy ADHD, It's super difficult to get myself to actually finish anything, so the fact that I wrote and posted a multi-chapter fic at all felt like a huge accomplishment. Aside from a few cowardly antis who made burner accounts to scream at me and then immediately delete, the reception to the fic was pretty positive. But there was one user whose response was just a bit... too positive.
At first they seemed normal, they commented and I replied thanking them. And then they commented again... and again.... and again... Over the course of about a year and a half they just kept coming back to comment, leaving at least one comment per month, usually more, and their comments got weirder and more aggressive as time went on. At first they were complimentary, then they started not-so-subtly asking for a sequel to the fic. I eventually lost track of how many comments they left. I always have moderated comments so most of them aren't even up on the fic, but I have the records of them in my AO3 inbox and in my emails. When I stopped replying they got passive aggressive. One comment was literally just "Okay then."
I didn't block them at first because they seemed harmless, and they clearly loved my fic, but it really reeeeeally started weirding me out. I didn't have any solid plans to write again for that specific ship, I considered it at first, but after all of that it made me never want to write that pairing again; and I probably never will.
What was finally the last straw for this commenter was when I finally got myself to sit down and write again, (this time for a different pairing) and follow through with posting it. It didn't get much engagement, which is totally fine, that's not why I write, but shortly after posting I got a notification that someone had left a comment. I was thrilled, till I saw their username. Then I read their comment; "I'm just waiting for another [ship] fic."
My heart sank. But after a while of thinking about it, I was also pissed.
People, don't do what this person did. Every fanfic that's out there only exists because of a fan's passion and love for the content. They're not products for you to demand, they're the writer sharing their work with you when they could just keep it to themselves. You're not owed fanfic, you're not owed specific fanfic that you want, and you're not owed a relationship of any kind with the author. It's okay to love a fanfic, it's okay to read it multiple times, it's even okay to comment multiple times, but once it gets to an obsessive and passive aggressive degree, it's time to back off.
I deleted that last comment and blocked the user, even though it made me feel a little bad. They obviously loved my work, and they can still read it via AO3's blocking rules not prohibiting that even after blocking, but I'm never going to engage with them again. And I'm not doing this out of pettiness, but they're absolutely never getting that sequel they were begging for. The weirdness and passive aggression just kinda spoiled the fun for me.
That's my rant, be cool everybody.
Edit to clarify real quick: This particular fic was not being updated over the course of a year and a half, I posted all the chapters within the same 2ish weeks. It wasn’t like they were coming back every time I updated, they just kept commenting long after the fic was finished, and they were getting progressively ruder with their comments and passive aggressive after I stopped replying. This person was spam-commenting, repeating the same comments over and over, and wouldn’t stop for over a year till I finally got fed up and blocked them. That is specifically what made me uncomfortable. Don’t be self conscious about commenting for each update, that’s completely different, I love my regular commenters!
I wanted to know more of your puffcest takes especially the nsfw story you alluded to from number 2, so I guess 6, 7, and 10 please! I've never thought about this ship but I already love it!
AAAaaaaahwikdsfgkhkgffff!! Oh my gosh, TYSM for asking!!
NSFW under the cut, minors look away lol, but also cuz this is gonna be a long one!
Okay so, for number 2 (this story is also gonna answer number 10) what happened was there was a TON of sexual/romantic tension between the two, but as I said, Buttercup was pretty much clueless and only realized it on an unconscious level.
Bubbles on the other hand - who has always been very in touch with her emotions and wears her heart on her sleeve - had been basically broadcasting to Buttercup that she was interested, but it kinda never went anywhere. She began to feel like she was stuck in a side romance plot that the writers have been dragging on for too long, on top of the general panic of "Oh my god I'm in love with my sister, what do I do, am I a freak!?!?" At the same time, they were both VERY much in puberty, and like any teens their hormones were raging, and with Chemical-X enhancing function in their bodies she was also basically in heat.
So, one afternoon, while Buttercup was out with some friends, Bubbles snuck into her room. She crawled into Buttercup's bed, smelling her scent on the sheets and snuggled in, hugging her pillows and imagining it was Buttercup. At that point, one thing led to another and hugging turned to humping, which inevitably led to Bubbles full-on masturbating in Buttercup's bed, while moaning and whimpering her name over and over. Finally just as she was about to cum, she noticed Buttercup standing in the doorway, deer in the headlights style.
Bubbles of course panicked, apologizing over and over whilst on the verge of a breakdown, with all of her worst fears confirmed as Buttercup just stared at her in shock. Meanwhile, Buttercup is having a lightbulb moment in her head like "Ooohhhhhhh... so that's what's been going on...." With it finally clicking for her that she wanted Bubbles like that too.
Bubbles tried to leave, but Buttercup grabbed her arm and pushed her back down onto the bed. And then she said something like; "You were about to finish, weren't you? I interrupted. Keep going...."
Bubbles, now equally shocked as Buttercup was just moments ago, obediently complied. And well, after that, nature took its course 😜
Anyway, now that story is out of the way, onto the other two!!
6. did having sex fix them?
Depends on what you consider "fixed". Their tension was finally resolved, but once the seal was broken the flood of emotions and sexual desires just came pouring out of them like a tsunami. They rationalized it at first that there was no way they could ever have sex with a regular, non-superhero human, since they were way too strong and would just end up hurting any potential lovers in the heat of the moment. However, both of them knew that, even tho that was technically true, they were in love with each other deep down, so it was a "fuck first, feelings later" kinda deal, lol.
They started doing it like animals continuously for the first few weeks/months before they eventually started to calm down. All the while sneaking around Blossom, the Professor, and basically all of Townsville, cuz, y'know, they're basically famous 😂 It added fuel to the fire for a while, but after one too many close calls they realized they needed to tone it down a bit or risk ruining everything.
7. do they flirt in front of others?
Absolutely! As stated above, they had a very active sexual relationship, and could barely contain themselves at first. Buttercup was a little more bold of course, occasionally making innuendo at Bubbles, winking at her, stealing a squeeze or a grope whenever she could etc., all which made Bubbles very flustered, but she loved it. Meanwhile Bubbles got much snugglier with her in general, always floating super close to her, resting her head on her shoulder, batting her eyelashes at her, curling up with her on the couch while they watched family TV, stuff like that.
But of course, as people started to get suspicious, they tried to tone it down some. They had an extremely awkward moment at one point where they tried to play it off like "Oh, no no, w-we're just a super affectionate family! R-right Blossom??" And they both hugged Blossom and kissed her on the cheek, while Blossom was super confused and weirded out between the two of them. 🤣
Thanks again for asking, this was SO much fun to write/answer!!
