I'm starting to think that sometimes the universe wants to make fun of me. The other day, I had just a little chat with @hamliet about the poor representation twins generally get in media and how hard it seems to people to understand that twins are individuals like anyone else and the same day, when I'm at bar with my friend and my twin, a group of old men sitting at the table beside us, starts to stare at us. After a while, one of them asks "Are you girls twins?" and I don't know why people have to always, always ask this, don't you all have two eyes and a brain?
"Yes, we are" I reply, because after twenty three years I have gotten used to this particular brand of dumbness, but then the man turns to one of his friends, pointing to us, and says out loud, "Look, these two are twins?"
Yes, we are. So what? Do you think this gives you the right to bother other people? Because while I see that there's nothing malicious or ill meant in every of these episodes, it still gets on my nerves to have people staring at me shamelessly and acting like my sister and I are some sort of strange creature to be looked at. Twins exist, it's 2021, it shouldn't be such a mistery anymore.
Rant over.
