CHAPTER ONE
~SUMMARY~
it’s been 2 years since the class of 86’ graduated.
2 years since reader x Eddie had a horrible break up,all because he didn’t want a relationship while on tour with his band. That week before the break up Eddie tried everything in the book to make you mad to cause a fighht to break up and it worked. Little did Eddie Munson know ,he wasn’t leaving her alone by herself. 2 months later she finds out she’s pregnant with twins. You were 19 at the time so everything was nerve wrecking. Your best friend Steve has stepped up to help you in anyway he can.

•a/n it’s been 6 years since I’ve written a fan fic so I’m terribly sorry if this isn’t the best. If everyone likes it I’ll continue the story. I’m sorry I picked the names out for the twins. My little girls name is Journey so it felt easier to use her name. I also thought Edward would be fitting for Eddie.
1988
With the sun shining through the small cracks of the blinds, hitting your face. You shuffle around to the other side. But You wake up to the sound of the twins giggling and babbling stuff because they’re only One.
“Guess it’s time to get up” you said with a tired voice,rubbing your hands up your face through your hair.
Being a single mom isn’t easy especially with two kids..but you get up and do it.
You get out of bed and walk into their room
“Goodmorning my beautiful princess” picking up your daughter Journey kissing her temple.
She giggles putting her small palms on your cheeks pushing them in gentle with what little strength she had.
You giggle at how cute she is.
Your daughter is a spitting image of you besides those big brown eyes she has from her father.
giving her a light smile while walking to the other crib.
“Good morning my handsome prince” picking up your son Edward giving him a big kiss on the cheek.
Now your son is literally his fathers twin, Eddie wouldn’t even be able to deny it. If he wanted to.
You carry them downstairs to the living room where their play area is and sit them down. Walking towards the tv and turning on The New adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
The sound of the theme song caught their little ears and they grin from ear to ear. Journey clapping her hands with excitement. While Edward is bouncing up and down with excitement.
“Mama is going to make breakfast, Uncle Steve and Aunt Robin should be over soon”
you walk into the kitchen and grab everything you need to make pancakes and eggs . You start cooking breakfast and peek your head out of the kitchen window to check on the twins every now and then.
Your heart fills with happiness and regret while listening to the sweet sounds of the twins playing in the living room with the sounds of Pooh and his friends playing in the background.
After they were born you tried your best to get ahold of Eddie to tell him. Calling Gareth but he would always say he was out busy, you’ve even tried calling his number but it was disconnected a few months ago.
Since he’s been on tour you went to your last resort.
sending few “fan mails” hoping he would read them but the last three that you sent out were returned to your address so you gave up.
Does he really hate me that much, he was the one that left me ?
“HUNNIE I’M HOME” Steve yelling throwing the door open
“Jesus Harrington the babies” Robin says slapping Steve in the back of the head
You hear the twins laughing hard to the point Journey falls over on to the mat,face first and continues laughing more causing her brother to laugh with her.
“They thought it was funny ass” Steve says giving Robins smug smile
“Watch it Steve” hanging your head out of the kitchen window, giving him a look pointing to Edward and Journey “Little ears remember”
“Sorry.. it slipped ” Steve rubs the back of his neck walking towards the kids to sit with them on the floor.
“How’s my two favorite little ones” Steve says looking at them with his loving caring eyes.
you watch the kids get excited jumping all over Steve and it’s melts your heart .
Steve has been by your side since the day you found out you were pregnant, to all the appointments to the scares of false labor to even the birth of the twins. Word around town is people think he’s the father but everyone close to us knows Eddie is the twin’s father. Steve this point just accepts it so people don’t continue to question you infront of the kids in public because he knows how much it bothers you.
Since you and Eddie broke up you’ve only seen Wayne every once in a blue moon around the general store or 7Eleven.
Wayne was like a second father growing up. I truly missed him dearly so of course I want to let him meet his great niece and nephew but I still haven’t been able to tell Eddie.. and if anyone knows Eddie they know he will be mad if others knew before he did.
Weirdly since the first time you ran into Wayne at the General store. Every 2 weeks someone would leave a box of diapers and some toys on the front steps.
But who knows it could be one of the older ladies on your street helping a young mom out. Whoever it is has no idea how much it helps.
“Hey breakfast is ready if y’all are hungry” you said looking at Steve and back to Robin.
“SWEET!! I’m starving”Robin says running to the kitchen making herself a plate
“Go eat first Y/n” Steve says looking up at you. “I got them, food needs to cool down for them anyways” smiling at you
“Steve you…” before you can finish he cuts you off
“Y/N it’s fine. I promise” pointing towards the dinning room sternly
“Thank you” you blow him kisses jokingly and walks towards the dinning room where Robin is.
“You have him wrapped around your finger y/n.”Robin says while handing me a plate of food.
“What?” giving her a confused look
“Y/n seriously? Are you a clueless dingus like him..?” She says raising a brow.
“He’s been by your side since day one..hasn’t left. I mean the dudes left a few dates with other women because you’re calling because one of the twins are sick and you don’t know what to do” smiling lightly at you. “ I know Steve isn’t their dad Y/N but emotionally he is to them..he’s been the only consistent man in their life besides your cousin Dustin ” pointing towards Steve and the kids laying on the floor.
You look over at them and your heart melts even more..deep down you love everything about Steve but you don’t want to lose the friendship you have with him if things go south like they did with Eddie..
Looking back at Robin while eating some of your pancakes.
“Robin you do the same thing” you say looking at her about to laugh.
“Does that mean you like me to ?” pressing your elbows up on the table while using your hands to hold your face.
“What no ?!” Robin says laughing
“Exactly” you start laughing even harder.
“I doubt Eddie will ever come back y/n, it’s been two years. I know you love Eddie and the thought of being a family with their dad but you can’t be single mom forever..he doesn’t even know about the twins.” Robin says stuffing a big piece of pancake in her mouth
Little did any of them know Eddie and his band were coming back home for a year break to visit family and friends.
“Yeah well when you start dating the new girl you have a crush on maybe I’ll think about it” you said winking at Robin.
“Like I said a guy who doesn’t love you wouldn’t sit around helping you with someone else’s kids and leave other women to come help you but Steve does”
Is she right?
Before you could say anything Steve walks into the dining room holding the twins
“They we’re getting hungry”
He puts the twins in their highchairs. while you make their plates.
You all sit around the table eating and talking till the twins start throwing their food around letting us know their full.
“BABABA”Journey says throwing some egg towards Steve hitting him in the face
Robin starts laughing causing Steve to laugh even harder while picking up the egg she threw.
“Journey tell Uncle Steve you’re sorry..that wasn’t nice princess..” you’re down at her eye level talking to her in a calming voice.
Journey looks at Steve and smiles.
“Sorry accepted love bug” Steve says kissing her forehead.
“Hey y/n I have to go over to Henderson’s house for a bit, can I take the kids ? I’m sure Dustin and your Aunt would love to see the kids?” He looks up at you with a soft smile. “while we’re gone you can relax,okay?”
you chuckle “thanks Steve. I’m sure the twins would love to see them.” picking up the plates off the table.
“do you wanna take my car since the car seats are in there ?”
“I can switch them over while you get them dressed, so you have your car” grabbing your keys from the bar and walking outside.
“Like I said y/n… no guy would EVER!!” Robin says with a serious look
“You’re thinking too much into it Robin. Steve doesn’t like me like that.” shaking your head and picking up the twins
“I’ll be back” you take the twins upstairs to get them dressed.
After getting the twins dressed you fix Edward and Journey’s hair so they don’t look crazy.
You pack diapers,bottles and wipes into their separate diaper bags with spare clothes incase they get messy. They do EVERYTIME they’re with Dustin and Steve. It’s like a mission for them to get them dirty.
“I GOT THEM SWITCHED Y/N!” Steve yells from the front door
“Okay!” You grab the twins and their bags to head downstairs.
“Robin you coming with or staying with Y/N?”
“I’ll go with so y/n can sleep and relax ” Robin looks at you smiling.
“You be good for Steve you two” you kiss Edward and Journey.
they both giggle and shove their faces into your neck putting their hands on your back.
“They’ll be fine y/n I promise” Steve says in a assuring voice while grabbing the twins.
“I know they will with you” you said smiling
“Love you Stevie ” shooting a smile at him knowing he hates that nickname
Steve rolls his eyes and leans in to kiss your forehead “I love you to y/n” waking towards the door “get some rest okay we will be back soon” going outside to the car.
Robin looks at you and smirks about to say something
“Robin shut it” handing her the diaper bags
She laughs and walks out towards the car
“Bye love you!!” Waving bye to Robin blowing her kisses
“Love you to” catching the kisses putting them in her pocket.
Before Steve got into the driver seat he looks at you and smiles “ don’t get into trouble while I’m gone” before you could say anything back he gets into the car and backs out heading to the Henderson’s .
You close the door and the silence hits you. You take a deep breath in and look around the mess everywhere. Wave of tiredness hits you like a ton of bricks..
“I’ll clean tomorrow it’s not that bad” walking up the stairs to your room, climbing into bed.
Few minutes pass and waves of emotion and thoughts run through your head.
“I can’t stay single forever..”
“The twins need a male figure in their life”
“How would Eddie feel or think about the twins?”
“Would he even want to be apart of their life if he knew about them?”
Thoughts of what Robin kept saying to you about Steve ate at you because you love Steve more than anything but deep down you’re afraid something bad will happen between you two and the twins can’t lose him. Absolutely not. They love him to much.
with thoughts rushing through your head sounds of heavy metal and a loud car driving by your house makes your heart stop.
Is that Eddie ? No absolutely can’t be he hasn’t been in Hawkins in two years.. you shake that off and turn your lamp off and slowly drift off to sleep.
Things are either about to be good or turn for the worst for y/n.
a/n IM REALLY SORRY IF THIS WAS HORRIBLE 🥴 it’s been so long since I’ve written a fanfic and I kinda wanted to write one for single moms since I’m in that boat so this is really just for fun and for my imagination.
