Mahina Birthday Fact (cause it’s the final day):
For the past 3 or 4 years (since both got held back a year), Mahina and Leona have showed up at each other’s birthday in some way;
1. The first year, Leona stuck around for Mahina’s birthday cause…why not, he wasn’t doing anything and she was just kinda there.
For his birthday, Mahina stuck around him cause it was calmer than dealing with the other bullies in the dorm (not like either one of them could be bothered in any way besides annoyance by them), and she decided to cut her loses and be annoyed by one semi-quiet guy than an entire dorm of challengers.
2. The second year, Leona showed up at the end of her birthday and gave her a pudding cup. It was a very silent exchange, save for the teasing by Leona, which made Mahina slug him.
For his birthday, Mahina sat on a branch over Leona and the two of them discussed normal Dorm things…and maybe some insults and banter. This went on for 3 hours until Leona fell asleep and left Mahina fuming, so she just flew away.
3. The third year, Leona forced Mahina out of the dorm and threw a surprise party for Mahina, only him and Ruggie took part, with the other members of the dorm being there to witness Mahina’s embarrassment at the situation…well less so embarrassment and more so, she ended up physically assaulting Leona and the two of them ended up diving into a snack table.
For his birthday, Mahina found him passed out drunk in the lounge and woke him up (maybe through a loud hiss to scare the hell out of him, and agitate his headache), but through the rest of the day, the she was kind of helping him get over it and taking the majority of the dorm work (she’s already done it before, what’s another day).
4. For the fourth year (junior repeat year), you already know this, but Leona forced Mahina out of the dorm again and might be doing a repeat of last year.
For his birthday? That hasn’t come to past yet… 😊

Leona's first birthday was uneventful and that in itself made it a bombshell. Most of the early ones were him getting shuffled about for ceremonies, parades, and all sorts of other royal fanfare that he never enjoyed, especially since there was rarely anyone his own age in attendance. Over the years, the celebrations became significantly more lowkey but that was more from a lack of effort on the palace staff's part than actual respect for Leona's wishes. Nearly everyone forgot his 15th because of all the focus on Cheka's arrival, and there was no way in hell he was sticking around for the wild dog and pony show that would be the little hairball first birthday. Here at NRC, he could just fade into the crowd without the sting of anybody he used to care about overlooking him. Except... he wasn't overlooked and at least one condor, while she'll never admit that she cares in a thousand years, makes for decent enough company.
Meanwhile, the only one who ever cared about Mahi's birthdays was Pohaku so without him, she didn't have much of a reason to celebrate. Yet that didn't seem to stop that irksome lion from sticking to her no matter how many times she tells him to take a hike or aims a punch his way.
Btw, Leona started NRC a year late and repeated his third year twice. I would imagine it's the same for Mahi, so maybe they spent her second third on the beach and his second third playing a round of chess.
I can't wait to see what Mahi has in store for Leona this year!
