In towns all over Alternia a poster begins to appear. No one ever seems to see who puts them up, and only those who've spent long months or even sweeps in the woods would even have a chance at recognizing the face upon it.
A few older folk whispered when they were put up of having met the woman in the wood hundreds or even thousands of sweeps ago with the same scars and chips taken from her flesh, the younger joining the conversation in confused amusement.
If she were still alive it wouldn't be as much of a surprise- She was a seadweller after all- No the shock was that after all this time, after generations of adventurers and travelers had seen her, her description stayed the same.
Beta Luz is basically the whiskey or perfume John Mulaney bit. During the Grugby game in the wing AU instead of Amity getting her arm broken Luz is the one who gets hurt. Boscha straight up curb stomps one of her wings and she is grounded for a little while, and it is absolute hell. Her and Amity bond cause @ the time Amity's wings are clipped so they add a countdown to Luz being able to fly next to Amity's countdown till she can fly. -Punk Anon
I was actually thinking that it’s during the time when Amity is still learning to fly and getting better at it, so one of her first public flights were at the Grudgby match which was. a bit of a shock to everyone who knew her as someone who never flied before.
BUT the curb stomped wings are Interesting. one of them just gets Twisted in a Horrendous angle and Amity is ominously standing behind Boscha wish brass knuckles and a bat
The tightening of a strap along your arm cuts into the flesh, the fingers flexing as bones creak at the click of the buckle being set.
Breathe out.
The faint steady whisper of your breath and the creak of your body are the only things in this darkness you have power over. The world beyond the blindfold keeping each lash brushing your cheeks is unknown. The rushing tug as they prepare you once again is routine at this point, there's no reason for you to try to pull away, or thrash when the heavy iron shackles are released.
You're still bound, after all.
Steady, ready, tense it all, relax it all.
It'd be easy to snap the leather bands holding your arms in place as internally you prepare. Little beyond the most powerful magic would work on you, and he already knew that- Things material and mortal are all that ever kept you bound. The shackle around your neck is still tight to its mounted point behind you- There's no need to look to check, you already know it's blessed pull too well.
Ch ch ch ch.
The steady clack of the gate keeping you away from the arena begins its ascent. Your tail almost flicks with anticipation- Fins and ears shifting to pull the unseen outside in.
'-rite Aetoli-'
Your given name is all you need hear as you drop lower to the floor, a light tug of each arm snapping yourself free to pull the blindfold away, though the chain still attached to your throat creaks in protest as you pull against it.
Ah. It's day. That's a surprise. You never knew the day, or even if one had passed.
Breathe in.
With the release of your collars chain clawed hands thud into the sand, pulling and reaching for a grip on anything alive as you barrel out into the blinding light beyond the gate.
Just finished reading Twisted Wing by Ruth Newman
Could not put it down! It's been a while since I've read a whole book in one sitting!
If you like crime/murder mystery novels, definitely read it.
The murders are pretty gruesome though.
I think I kind of knew all along who the bad guy was but even so the end shocked me and there was a bit of a twist.
