Okay but wing au Rossiu getting a Kamina wing hug for the first time 👀

Father Magin had wings, but like Simon he kept them tucked away at all times and Rossiu followed his example. Kamina and Yoko are the first people he meets that wear their wings openly, and Rossiu's both fascinated and low-key scandalized that Kamina is so expressive with his wings.

(actually, Rossiu might ask Kamina to cover up with an Adai cloak because him flaunting his wings like he does is indecent lol)

Anyway, Rossiu's not used to wings being out on display and definitely not used to the way Kamina uses them as a seamless extension of his body language. He can only watch in absolute wonder as Kamina pulls Simon into a hug and covers them both with his wings, struck by the open display of affection and the casual intimacy of wrapping another in your wings.

Maybe that first time or maybe some later time that Kamina gives Simon a hug, he catches Rossiu watching. Not missing a beat, Kamina opens one wing and gestures Rossiu closer with his now visible arm. "You want in on this too, Forehead? Come on, there's room."

Rossiu wants. Rossiu wants so bad. He wants Kamina's arms and wings around him, he wants to be squished up next to Simon against Kamina's chest, he wants to feel even a fraction of the love Kamina and Simon so freely share between them.

But he can't. His throat closes up and he can only shake his head and flee. It's too much and too soon and that love doesn't belong to him. He hopes he'll feel ready for it one day, but he doesn't yet.

He regrets not taking his chance for six long months.

He hugs Simon to make up for it, and to hold Simon together in Kamina's place as best he can. He knows he's no replacement for the all encompassing safety of Kamina's hugs, but Kamina's gone and Rossiu and Nia are all Simon has to fill that void. It's hard, at first, to free his wings from his cloak and drape them over another person, even someone he loves as much as Simon. He's awkward and hesitant but he's trying, and Simon leans into the hugs with his full weight even as he keeps his own wings folded tight. When Simon gets his spark back and his wings grow to their proper size, Rossiu finally gets a wing hug back.

Then an impossible miracle. Kamina, alive in the bowels of Teppelin. Rossiu didn't miss his chance after all. This time he doesn't hesitate for a moment when Kamina lifts up a wing for him.

Wing hugs

Nia and Rossiu did their best, but no one gives wing hugs like Kamina. Kamina could cover Simon completely with his wings and block out the world, and nothing has ever felt as safe to Simon. So when Simon is granted the impossible miracle of Kamina being alive, he has six months of missed wing hugs to make up for. Not that Kamina's complaining.

But also! Simon can give proper wing hugs back now! His wings have grown in and they're huge and he can cover Kamina completely, and often will when he wants Kamina's attention but Kamina's talking to someone else. He'll hug Kamina from behind with just his arms at first, and if that doesn't get the reaction he wants then Kamina gets suffocated in black feathers. Simon is well aware he's being a brat and monopolizing Kamina's attention unfairly but also he thought his brother was dead for six months. He'll be a brat about it all he wants until the crack in his heart finally starts to close.

So, drawing wings for some mcu characters and my friends are not giving me feedback on the wings I chose so I turn to you fellow mcu fans of Tumblr! Most of these are based more on vibes and these are only the ones I plan on drawing.

I’ve also been debating on giving Thor and Loki wings but I only have an idea for Thor rn. His are Robin wings with feathers made of Iron and later woven through with Uru.

Artist canon event is drawing wings on things so here is blaze with fire hawk wings (note, fire hawks are not actual species but instead a few bird species that have been documented spreading fire with flaming branches and sticks to hunt)

So the funny thing about the wing au is that while I know what birds they've all borrowed their wings from, none of the characters have any idea because none of these birds exist anymore. There's only Lordgenome's non spiral creatures on the surface, and if Littner's records aren't even certain on whether humans used to live on the surface or not I doubt they go back far enough to extensively document bird species.

Maybe the first time any of Team Dai Gurren find out their wings are from real extinct animals is when they take Teppelin and start digging through their archives. Kamina's hibernation pod would have his bird species listed with the rest of his info, so Simon can later be like "what the hell is a whistling kite?"

Ooh, oooh, Viral in the wing au 👀

Beastmen don't have wings, because they don't have spiral power. Viral's never thought too much about the humans' wings before, or why the beastmen lack them, until he meets Kamina. As they clash face to face over that flying squirrel, Viral finds himself just a bit envious of this human's wings and just how gracefully he can move with their help. He aims his blade more at the wings than center mass, forcing Kamina to tuck them in or risk serious damage. Maybe during this fight or the next Viral taunts Kamina by claiming he's going to take Kamina's wings as a trophy once he wins.

(Maybe he asks for wings when Lordgenome makes him immortal, but not even the Spiral King himself can grant wings to a non spiral being)

Random au idea. Some people have wings they are pretty uncommon and stigmatized. Wyatt Hayes was one of these people, Toronto hated that he wouldn't bind his wings and eventually traded him to Ottawa.

Troy also has wings, this however is not known information, except to Dallas, who thought they were disgusting. He has kept them carefully bound, and clipped his whole life. He gets traded to Ottawa without him punching Dallas being filmed, so everyone assumes he must have done something truly horrid to be there.

Wyatt is still sort of giving him a chance, but no one misses how Troy's eyes are constantly glued to the man's wings.

Possibly at some point, he's exhausted, and in pain from the wing binding or whatever and gets in a fight with Wyatt. Wyatt hisses or some noise which is immediately repeated back by Troy. Probably more aggressively, and Wyatt is like.... Hold up, why can he do a growl like that???
