Jade hums, looking out the large window glass of the botanical garden. Though it was temperate inside the, Jade could tell simply by looking that he should brace for the cold. There's a rather unsettling creak of the building and he can hear the wind shear past the windows.
Him, being an eel, means he is well suited to the cold waters of the North... however...
Jade pushes open the door to the garden with some struggle, just wide enough that he can squeeze part of himself out to take a good look. As he had suspected, the snow was starting to accumulate rapidly. There had already been close to a foot when he'd come into the garden and now that he'd been tending to his mushrooms for the last few hours without noticing the snow had been dumping down, so when he tries to step out into it, he finds himself sinking up to his knees in the snow.
Well that won't do. Even if he were to use fire magic to ease the burden of trudging through the snow, he's liable to wring his magic abilities dry well before he reaches the hall of mirrors.
Surely there has to be elsewhere he can shelter closer, at least until the teachers could dig out the pathways again in the morning. He glances around, wincing against the wind until his gaze lands on the closest open building he can see-- Ramshackle Dorm. It's a rather quick decision to continue toward the dormitory-- after all, the snow is still coming down in fat flakes and he doesn't have time to dally any longer.
It takes him nearly fifteen minutes to cross even that short distance, and he shows up at the entryway to ramshackle with his clothes soaked through up to his knees. He knocks, politely, hoping they'll take pity on him and offer shelter for the night.
