Ah, sigh. This story took on a life of its own. It came from a starter I wrote for someone else who deleted their account shortly after and when Ryan came and asked if I was interested in RPing some shippy shippy Dalaric I suggested they have a look at that one.
The basics; Alaric shows up at the Grill one night with no idea he's been dead for years.
This was such an amazing point for the story because they acknowledged that before Alaric died, there had been an attraction neither was willing to act on, but once the dam was broken, they couldn't get their hands off each other, and Ryan and I had such similar headcanons and such compatible characterization that it just flooooowed. It was great because Alaric was trying so hard not to fall apart at this point and Damon was caught up in thinking he finally had something that he wouldn't have t share with his brother, someone who only wanted him, and was very motivated to keep him together, and give him a reason to keep going. It was so lovely.
It was also great because even if a thread is intended to be shippy, you really never know whether it's going to work out that way; they may just not gel. But Ryan's Damon and my Ric were so great together and if you could have seen Ry and I screaming at each other in asks and gifchatting ridiculous cartoons on the dash at the same time you would have giggled.
