Alice isn't really sure how it happens. In all the years she's been wearing high heels, it has never happened to her. Not once. And she honestly couldn't remember a time when she wasn't wearing high heels. (No, the time she spent in the hospital wing really didn't count, she was forced not to wear them.) So she really doesn't know how the heel of her shoe manages to break.
At least she was only a couple of feet away from where Doe is sitting at the Ravenclaw table and she manages to not fall on her face. She made a weird set of movements that were her way of trying to prevent the fall and she ended up in a weird half-crouching, half balancing position. She held that for a few seconds before she let out a chuckle and opened her arms like it was all part of an act and not her being clumsy and unfortunate that morning.
"You saw Alice Fortescue's once in a lifetime performance. We hope you enjoyed the show, make sure to drive your brooms safely on the way home. Goodnight," she joked before standing up, making the last couple of feet with one broken heel to Doe and sitting down next to her. "Hey."
