got to learn how to use a perkins brailler!

i knew the basic alphabet at the time - so no contractions, punctuations, etc. - and i practiced typing on an app a long time before that, so this went quicker than i expected!

the only hard part was getting the paper to load right lol

Still progressing in my braille course! I am able to use the software now so this is fun! Not that this is useful for an actual blind person since the dots are not raised. But for the purpose of my practicing accuracy and the individual wordsigns, well it’s a lot faster than the typewriter 😅

Ive decided I want to learn braille. I need to be honest with myself about my vision loss. Yes my shunt surgery has put a halt to my vision loss for now but I've already lost a small portion of my vision and I'm only 27. There's a good chance I will lose more of it throughout the years as I age and I want to set myself up for success any way I possibly can. Learning braille is something I'm able to do before hand to help myself prepare so that's what I'm going to do. I don't need to be blind already to learn braille and I'm not going to wait around for it. Time to take my life into my own hands and actually teach myself something that I can truly benefit from.

It'll be a lot of work and probably really hard for me to do but I plan to get good at braille and start making braille writings of my own.

I also wanna maybe transfer my favorite writings into braille, books I love etc. (it's a goal I might not meet but I'll try)

Braille writer machines do exist, it's like a typewriter. Very cool, back to the classics. Haven't used a typewriter in a while.

I was going to do a printer but I would rather be more hands on about it and the printers cost a metric fuckton anyway.

I want to have a hobby I can do in the event I go too blind to do anything I can do now.

This should be something I can do even with my other physical disabilities
