The Twitch boys pulled off a bit of a coup this week by getting Hessle Audio’s Kowton and Perverlist to play on Sunday in The Hudson after their usual big Saturday night in Queens Student union. By all reports this was one not to be missed with a pair of DJs who are used to playing big clubs and packed dance floors getting a chance to play in an environment that lets them show off a bit more range. One track that epitomised this was Ron Trent - Altered States.
Released in 1990 when Ron was 17 (!!!) and made by him even earlier, apparently he started it when he was 13. This track has a lot of elements of emotional elements house and the structural elements of techno melded into one track that has seen it feature in sets from Club DJs for the last 25 years. It was a Phil Kieran Shine Anthem (maybe a bit to energetic to be playing in a warm up set tho Phil) that always got a big reaction. This 10 minuter is a journey in itself and definitely one of those ‘close your eyes and let go’ tracks.
