[ID: Azrai, a bulky figure in an off-white suit of armor and a cloak, looms on a dark background. Ze has dark wings, an engraved battleaxe, and blue eyes, which glow ominously in the darkness of zer hood. The hood and armor are scratched and worn. End ID]
Since Father’s Day was yesterday, I figure this is a good time to talk about Azrai, one of my DnD characters/OCs!
Azrai used to be a minor angel working under the god of death, but ze got suckered for an Orpheus-like sob story and let two souls leave the underworld. Ze was sentenced to a mortal life on earth as punishment, and became a paladin in an attempt to atone and relearn the purpose of a vow.
As an Oath of the Ancients paladin, ze has vowed to nourish and protect good and innocence of the world, and to develop it in zerself. To that end, ze spends much of zer off-time at art galleries, amateur theater shows, the opera, and other places where art is displayed. Zer appearance in the audience and intent gaze can be unsettling to others, which saddens zer.
Azrai is a guardian and protector of all children, but has adopted two children of zer own: Teddie, an orphaned Aasimar barbarian, and Jesse, a changeling warlock unable to return home to the fae realm. Ze is especially close with Teddie, whom ze is teaching about her angelic heritage in her parents’ absence.
