1, Ant/Tony
1) “I’m tired and I don’t want to argue.”
“How could you?”
Ant tries to stay calm, tries to explain the situation again. “I told you. There’s just… a lot going on here… and believe me, this isn’t an easy decision on my end, either.”
Tony doesn’t respond, just sort of stares at the ground, so for whatever reason, Ant decides to continue on.
“But really- you guys will be fine. You and Peter seemed to be doing alright before Mike and I joined anyways,” Ant says. Truth be told, he doesn’t really know if this is helping or making things worse; he’s mostly just talking to fill up the silence.
Tony eventually looks up at him. “Do you honestly expect us to go on without you?”
“Well, I don’t know,” Ant replies, tears starting to sting at his eyes. “But I’m sure you can find someone to replace me. There’s plenty of guitarists out there. It shouldn’t be that hard.”
“But there’s no one else out there like you!” Tony cries, and, wow, Ant wasn’t really expecting that.
In all the time that Ant has known him, Tony’s never really been the best at showing emotion. Actually, that’s kind of an understatement. In most situations, Tony will happily sit there stone-faced and cold (at least on the outside- who knows what he’s really thinking), rather than show any sort of feeling.
And now he’s expressing… something for Ant.
Ant’s still not exactly sure what it is, but he’ll take it.
Rather than say anything else and risk making this any more difficult than it already is, he just reaches out, gathers Tony up into an embrace, and keeps him there for a good couple moments. Tony awkwardly hugs back- he’s clearly not used to this, but he doesn’t seem uncomfortable, and when Ant finally lets go, he notices Tony… blushing?
“Uh, sorry if that was weird,” Ant says, because apparently, his urge to say awkward and unnecessary things hasn’t let up yet.
“Don’t be sorry.” Tony says. He’s staring at the ground again, but Ant can see a faint blush still covering his cheeks. “I… probably needed that,” he adds, and before Ant can cut in with any more awkward remarks, Tony’s got his arms around him, holding him close again.
