"To the Town!" "- harbor?" "To the Harbor!"
After the announcement that Ningguang had with all of Liyue, she dismissed them and forced them to get away from you two. You were sure that if she hadn't done that you and (T/n) would've been swarmed by the people of Liyue. Though, one person in particular stood out to you as they were forced out by the Millelith.
"The ginger." You deadpanned, tugging on your twin's hand.
They brighened up, "He's here?" They got on their tippy toes to search the crowd.
"The ginger?" Zhongli turned to you two with a tilt of his head, "Do you possibly mean Childe?"
The both of you nodded, "He's my- well the best way to put it is that I put a hell of a lot of effort into him..." You trailed off, unsaid words on the tip of your tongue.
"Do you wish for me to call him over here your graces?" Zhongli asked with a devoted glint in his eyes.
Your twin turned to you and hesitantly you nodded, "Yes please."
"Childe!" Zhongli called and the man halted in his tracks.
He turned with his usual grin on his face, almost as though he expected this.
"Come here." Zhongli ordered, his expression nearly a grimace, but Childe pratically skipped over to you and your twin.
"Hello your graces!" He greeted with a bow and a grin, completely ignoring Zhongli and the other people by your sides, "It's an honor to meet you two! I've received quite a few gifts from your divine selves so I figured that perhaps you two would recognize me."
"Pfft-" You giggled, "Get off your high horse Childe, you're just really fun to use."
Your twin nodded, "It was (Y/n) that gave you all of your stuff," They grinned at you, "But you really are a fun char-... uhm.. you're really fun to use."
"Aha-" Childe chuckled, "I'm honored your graces! I felt your godly possession nearly all the time, I'm so glad you enjoy me that much."
"Actually," You muttered trailing off, "Should we crown him?" You asked (T/n).
(T/n) hummed with a smile, "If you crown him I'm crowning my wife."
"(T/n)-!" You stopped yourself from screaming, "Please, we don't need to crown her-"
"You get your husband and I get my wife, I think it's completely fair." They shrugged with a grin.
You rolled your eyes and you suddenly felt a dangerous aura from beside you. The ginger was grinning devilishly, "Your husband?" He chuckled.
"Shut up fatui boy you just do lots of damage." You huffed.
"Well, as your newly decalred husband," Child grinned deviously, "I think we should go on a date through Liyue!"
"No way," (T/n) shook their head with a pout, "It'd have to be a double date with me and Kokomi."
"Why are you playing into this (T/n)?" You demanded incredulously.
(T/n) shrugged, still smiling sweetly, "Why not now that we can? Come on Zhongli," They grinned, "You can lead the way since you know Liyue best."
You continued to look at them with shock and near disgust as they dragged you away, trailing Zhongli. You half-heartedly waved Ningguang goodbye, hugging Albedo and Venti as they headed back to Mondstadt to take care of the people there. Even as Zhongli spoke of the history of Liyue, Childe glued to your side and your hand snuggly held in (T/n)'s, you were caught up on the nonchalantness. How they played into the dangerous devotion.
You sighed and put it aside for now. Right now, you two were to enjoy Liyue together. The bigger and the deeper rooted issue could be addressed at a different time.
"We should eat first!" Childe suggested with an almost puppy-like grin, "When was the last time you two ate?"
"This morning, not that long ago." You shrugged, "Actually what time is it?"
"Near noon." Zhongli frowned, "We can get you two something to eat. Childe can pay for it."
You and (T/n) chuckled as Childe pretended to be upset. He giggled as soon as he heard you and your twin's amusement, ruffling your hair, "Don't worry, I'd do anything for your graces. A bit of mora is no trouble especially if it's for you two's well-being."
Your smile tugged down slightly into a frown, "That's not necessary... but thank you all the same."
(T/n) didn't say anything...
"We should go to Wanmin resturaunt!" (T/n) grinned, "Xiangling is there and she makes amazing food!"
Zhongli hummed, "Are you two sure you wouldn't like to go to a fancier resturaunt?"
You both immediately stood your ground, "We're going to Wanmin." Your twin insisted.
"We need to try Xiangling's food." You demanded.
Zhongli nodded, albeit a bit hesitantly, and led you three to the resturaunt. On the way there, everyone's eyes landed on you two. Staring and bowing with stars in their eyes. As though you two were the best things they had laid their eyes on. Your heart rate spike and your legs tensed, ready to fight or flight.
You held on tighter to (T/n)'s hand but they seemed unbothered. Merely grinning at all of the npcs and even pointing out and grinning when they'd see a character. You merely nodded and grinned halfheartedly though your stomach churned uneasily at how they bowed. Instead of their friendly eyes staring at your screen, they were devout and filled with reverence. Now that the barrier of the screen was eliminated, it made every look and action ten times more meaningful. Impacting you in a way you couldn't fathom. These characters and world were real. You and your twin were living it.
You felt your breath go uneasy, a feral instinct bubbling in you as you had nearly a death grip on (T/n)'s hand.
"Your graces!" The thunder's roar of a shout and a scream never ending and you were clutching onto (T/n)'s arm, whirling to where the voice had come from with feral terror in your eyes.
("Y/n)?" Your twin gripped your shoulders, they searched your feral eyes and they understood your message. They linked their arm with yours "Come on, let's hurry." They grinned and the two of you booked it, leaving Zhongli and Childe behind.
"Wait! Your graces!" They called after you two, but you didn't stop.
Childe pulled his hydro blades out, threatening those that came near you both. You two ran over the bridge, and made a beeline for the resturaunt, nearly slamming into the counter.
"Hello sir!" Your twin grinned, their hair ruffled after the running as you both caught your breath.
"Oh! Your graces!" He bowed clumsily, unsure what to do with himself in your precenses.
It left a bitter taste in your mouth.
"No need to bow!" You said, "We'd like to order something!" You and your twin eagerly bounced on your toes, grinning ear to ear and Zhongli and Childe caught up, not even out of breath.
"Ah, what would you like to order?"
"What's Xiangling specialty?" You asked (T/n).
They hummed, "An atk buff."
"Yo?" You grinned deviously, "Do we get atk buffs?"
They snorted, "That'd be awesome! We could try a def buff and then jump off a cliff."
You shrugged, "Just plunge attack, we'll be fine." You sarcastically waved your hand with a large grin.
"Please don't jump off of cliffs your graces." Zhongli worridly glanced between the two of you, genuine concern glowing in his eyes.
You giggled and (T/n) grinned, "We won't. It's mostly a joke."
"You're fearless!" Childe laughed - it was nearly a cackle - "I like that! But please take care of yourselves before anything else. You two are too important so stay alive your graces!" He smiled charismatically.
It felt like an arrow had been shot through your heart and there was now a hole torn through it. (T/n) kept smiling and grinning then started ordering but you couldn't get your mind off of his wording.
He didn't call us comrade...
Despite your overall lack of interest in the game's lore you knew Childe's lore. You knew his speech and you knew him.
He reffered to his closest friends as comerade, you were just an authority figure.
Your twin ordered Xiangling's specialty dish, their hand still tightly holding onto yours.
"Coming right up!" Chef Mao left to go prepare it and you went to sit down on the curb, your twin and then Zhongli and Childe joining you two.
You clutched onto (T/n)'s hand and they glanced to your worringly. Your cheeks were puffed out a bit, your eyes downcast, your eyebrows furrowed a bit, and your shoulders slumped.
(T/n) nudged you gently and you looked to them, your eyes spilling everything and yet nothing all at once.
They frowned, their brows drawn together with concern, "Something wrong Y/n?"
You frowned and muttered, "It's not the time or place to talk about it."
"If it's bothering you so much then you can tell me." T/n insisted, placing a gentle, human, mortal hand on your shoulder.
You sighed and shook the worry, "Just whiplash I guess, everything's just... different. It's more familar to you, but I don't know Teyvat as well as you do."
T/n frowned, their grip on your shoulder tightening slightly, "I get it, but just embrace it." They managed a smile with relative ease, "I'm sure you'll be better after some food."
Your expression didn't change but you nodded all the same, "Maybe." Was all you could mutter as you sat there silent whilst T/n spoke with Zhongli and Childe.
Childe sat to your left, while Zhongli sat to T/n's right. Tartaglia, ever perseptive, caught onto your mellowed state.
"Hey, what happened to your fighting spirit your grace?" He flashed his characteristic grin.
Your heart was cut open anew, dripping sorrow into the wound causing it to pulsate.
"Childe, there's no reason to call me that." You frowned.
His face contorted in confusion, "Nonsense, only the highest honor for you, your grace."
"I'm just not used to it," You huffed, your patience for the god-like treatment you were receiving was thinning already, "Just call me comrade."
"That's too casual a term for you, your grace!" Zhongli cried, a deep fown settled on his face, "You both deserve only the best and nothing less."
You frowned, your cheeks puffed and your eyes set in a firm and biting glare, "Well what if I don't like the best? I prefer Child to call me comrade. It's what he always said before we came here."
Zhongli looked like a kicked puppy and you could've sword there was a whine tickling the back of his throat, "I merely want you both to understand your worth. How important you are to Teyvat."
You and your twin remained silent, so many thoughts and emotions but there just weren't any words.
Thankfully, the tense and awkward atmosphere dissipated as Chef Mao announced that your food was done.
T/n excitedly grabbed your hands and pulled you up. Chef Mao handed you two the bowls of Black-Back Perch Stew. Childe and Zhongli had gotten nothing.
T/n and you went over to sit on the side of the path across from Wanmin resturaunt.
"Your graces, let's go somewhere else." Zhongli said, "We can eat by the harbor if you wish to, so you can see the ocean."
"Ooo!" T/n grinned, "Yes! Let's go Y/n!"
You grinned and followed, carefully holding your stew.
"Here, your graces," Childe held out his hands, "I can hold your food for you if you so wish."
Hesitantly, you handed it to him along with T/n (who didn't seem to hesitate at all), "Thank you." You muttered.
He nodded with a wide and genuinely joyful grin, "Of course your graces!"
You couldn't help but smile back. The dissonance between the screen was gone and his smile struck you in your heart. He is your main, the boy you put so much effort and love into. Now that he was smiling at you, not screen to protect your heart, you couldn't help but be happy.
The four of you came upon the harbor, the sun dipping lower into the sky, noon slipping away as soon as it had came. Sitting down in a quiet place, next to the boats, you could see Inazuma in the distance. Childe handed your food back to you two and you two giddily took the first bite.
"This is so good!" T/n exclaimed, kicking their dangling feet.
You grinned staring upon the water, your gaze traveling to Inazuma. Where you two would be headed tomorrow.
Actually, "Hey Ajax?"
He jumped, his expression lacking of any of his usual wittiness as you realized what you'd just said. You opened your mouth to apologize but his expression turned bright and he grinned boyishly, "Yes your grace?"
"Will you be coming with us to Inazuma?" You asked, taking another bite of your food.
"Well, as your husband," You nearly choked on your food, "I'd say I'm required to go aren't I?"
You briefly gave a harsh glare to your twin - who merely grinned deviously - before turning back to Childe. "It's just a joke calm down perv. I'll give your artifacts to Xingqiu if you don't shut up love."
"Love." T/n's face came next to yours, a teasing smile on their lips.
You rolled your eyes, "I call everyone that he ain't special."
Even despite your words, Childe looked like a dog wagging his metaphorical tail with glee.
"Zhongli get your mans." You giggled, pushing Childe playfully away.
Zhongli raised a brow, an amused smile playing at his lips, his elbow resting on his knee and his head resting in the palm of his hand, "I'm afraid I have no control over that Childe."
"Just get a spray bottle," T/n giggled, "Just spray him when he's being a little bitch baby."
Childe seemed to be on cloud 9 with all the attention, his eyes had a slight far-away look to them and his grin was wide and dumb. You merely kept eating your stew while he swung his feet off the side of the harbor, humming while looking at you two.
Zhongli murmered little stories of boats that used to stop by the harbor. You were mildly interested, though you couldn't help but ask for more specific information. I mean, now that you could actually ask and recieve the information you wanted (instead of what the game spoonfed you), why would you not take the opportunity? T/n especially seemed to enjoy the stories, asking about the weapons that Zhongli - Morax - had apparently crafted and wielded.
He spoke with great pride in his nation and himself. His wisdom shone brightly and blindingly but none of you minded. Merely listened to his stories. Even once you were done and the sun began to dip and the day's wearriness settled on your backs, he spoke soothingly.
Until, eventually, T/n leaned their head on your shoulder, yawning. You instinctively leaned your head against theirs, your hands unconsciously interlocking.
"Zhongli, they're falling asleep on you." Childe teasingly grinned, his eyes softly trained on you two.
"Huh?" Zhongli blinked in surprise, "Ah, I suppose they are... are my stories that boring?"
T/n hummed a small protest but didn't try anything more, tiredness gripping it's soft claws deep into your minds until the world was nothing but background noise.
...
You had woken up slowly, in a comfy bed, in the middle of the night. The sounds of Liyue at night surrounding your head in billowing softness, nearly lulling you back to sleep.
But nearly wasn't enough. Your mind was swimming with the events of the past 24 hours, causing a massive ache to stab into your skull.
With a groan, your turned your head to your right. There, your sibling was sleeping on a bed just as grand and overpriced as your own.
"T/n?" You called quietly.
"...T/n...?" You called a bit louder.
"Hm?" They groaned.
You sat up carefully, your head pounding, "Can we talk?"
"Hm?" T/n blinked their eyes open, but they snapped open quickly. Their eyes caught onto your figure and the unfamiliar room you two were in, "Yeah," They sat up shaking off their tiredness, "Of course you can."
They came over to your bed, sitting beside you, your hands interlocking.
You sighed, resting your head on their shoulder, "You... you're taking the whole god thing too well..."
You could pratically feel their frown without having to look at them. They sighed, "I figured you'd say something like that. Listen, you're freaking out right now and I get it. But the only reason I'm not freaking out is because I'm embracing it. If I didn't and argued with all of them all the time, and acknowledged the fact that this isn't where I belong... I'd go insane." They gently patted the top of your head, "You're gonna go insane if you don't accept it. Not like we can get out, right?" They breathed a laugh.
You frowned, "We haven't even tried."
"And why should we?" Your twin scoffed, a disgusted smile on their lips, "Mom and Dad didn't want us, you and I know that more than anything. Plus, if we were to go back, what would be waiting for us? Debt? A lifetime of working until our inevitable death? We had nothing good back at home but Genshin and now we're in Genshin. Let's enjoy this okay?" Their voice turned softer, smiling gently, "Just in case it doesn't last forever and we lose all of this. While it lasts, let's enjoy it here."
You hummed, "I guess... but god... I hated it when Childe didn't call me comrade."
T/n giggled, "Pft- Why do you want him to call you comrade huh?"
You swatted at them with the back of your hand, "Shut up, he just calls everyone he's friends with that. Or at least people he thinks are on equal ground with him. I just don't like being seen as an authoritative figure."
"I dunno man sounds kinda hot-"
"Now's not the time for jokes," You grinned.
"But you're laughing aren't you?" They patted your head, "And feeling better?"
You nodded, "A lot better, thank you."
Their expression softened, "Of course. Now!" They clapped their hands together, standing up and stretching, "Where are we?"
You turned around, a window was to the left of your bed. You hopped over your bed and checked outside of it, your twin coming up beside you.
"Wait! I know that scenery!" You exclaimed, stopping your twin from blurting it out.
They grinned, "Then what is it?"
"The inn!" You exclaimed, a giddy grin playing on your face, "The one with Xiao!"
Your twin giggled, "Yep! Wangshu Inn! The one with Xiao." They looked back out the window, marveling at the scenery, "It's so pretty." They muttered, smiling gently, as though remembering something.
You nodded, "Yes, it's very pretty. Although... I bet there'd be an even better view from the roof!"
T/n laughed, but didn't protest, "Let's go! Gotta be quiet though." They put a finger to their lips.
"I've snuck out the house plenty of times," You shrugged, waltzing over to the door, "I'll be fine."
You carefully turned the knob, not making a noise as you opened it. You exited the room, T/n following you. They carefully closed the door behind you two.
You and T/n swiftly and quietly navigated the hallways. You struggled for a bit to find the exit, nearly ran into someone at one point, but eventually, you two made it out into the crisp night air.
Giddy, you two ran up to the balcony, overlooking Liyue.
"There's the harbor." T/n pointed in the distance, an awe-struck smile adorning their face, "And then... you can see the Sacred Sakura from here!"
They pointed to the bright blue in the black night sky. You couldn't help but grin, nothing had ever looked so magnificent.
"That's the one where we dump the sigils into right?" You asked, still staring at the horizon.
"Yep." Your twin grinned.
"Do you think they've updated the cap?" You muttered, "Are there any caps now that we're actually in the game?" You leaned against the railing, your eyes unable to be drawn away from the view.
"Maybe," Your twin muttered, "Once we're done with Inazuma," They grinned, "We could go to Sumeru. Or, maybe, even Snezhnaya? I'm sure Childe would love to take us!"
"We could see the Tsaritsa and the other harbingers..." You mused.
Your twin gasped and grasped your shoulders tightly, "We could see the Tsaritsa!"
You raised a brow at their behavior and they merely shook you, "The Tsaritsa, Y/n, The Tsaritsa! She's- we get to see what she looks like!" Their face was dusted with heat and you giggled.
"Simp." You rolled your eyes, "But I'm sure she'd make good milf material."
"Exactly what I'm saying." They grinned, yawning, "I'm still tired."
You muttered, mostly to yourself, "What time is it?"
"Around 4 am your graces."
The two of you jumped nearly a foot in the air at the new voice directly behind you. Both of you whipped around to see Xiao standing behind you. Like a cat that had just meowed after appearing from the abyss.
"Xiao! How'd you find us?" You interrogated, your ego deflating, "I was sure I was good at sneaking out..." You muttered the last bit to yourself.
Xiao bowed his head, "Apologies, you two were talking so I thought you two weren't sneaking. I merely wanted to answer the inquiry you had, not to disturb you. You can go back to ignoring me if you so wish."
"No we can't." You frowned.
"Come here, Xiao." Your twin beckoned him over with a wave of their hand and a friendly smile, "We're enjoying the scenery."
Hesitantly, Xiao joined you two, standing beside T/n.
"You spend lots of your time here don't you Xiao?" T/n asked.
Xiao didn't respond immediately, as though he though T/n was going to keep talking. His eyes widened slightly when he realized they were waiting for a response from him, "Yes, your grace. This is where I come to rest."
"Then you know this place well, where's the best scenery in your opinion?" T/n asked with a kind smile.
Xiao paused, if your brain could stutter then that's what it did as he didn't seem to process the entire meaning for a few seconds. Then he shook his head to snap himself back into shape.
"Uhm, well... everything about the scenery is nice here..." He muttered, looking off into the distance, "I think you two have already found the best." He pointed to Liyue Harbor, "In mine and many people's opinions, Liyue Harbor is the best sight to behold here. Though..." He trailed off and looked around, then pointed in another direction, "Qingyun Peak is a wonderful sight to behold. Not the best from all the way over here, but it's still one of my favorite places to look at from afar and up close."
"Oh! We're supposed to be going there!" T/n did an excited mini-hop, "Probably today and then we're going to set off for Inazuma!"
"Wait! T/n!" You grabbed their shoulders and turned them to face you, "We could teleport to Inazuma right?"
"...Right?" They raised a brow.
"Or!" You grinned giddily, "We could ride the Alcor there!"
"And see Beidou and Kazuha!" Your sibling grabbed your hands, squeezing them with excitement, a large grin on their face.
Xiao merely stood off to the side, silently.
You glanced at him, "We should do that, but! Xiao, wanna come with us to Qingyun Peak?"
"Oo yeah you should come." T/n agreed enthusiastically, "You like it and you know it well don't you?"
Xiao nodded, "I-I do... I'd..." He got down on his knees and bowed his head, "I'd be honored, your graces, to accompany you."
You and your twin, at the same time, mumbled incoherent sentences. The only thing legible in your frantic mumblings were "Don't bow."
Xiao obeyed, standing up but keeping his eyes to the ground. He seemed mildly afraid but remained quiet.
You sighed, "When're Zhongli and Childe going to wake up? I kinda wanna see the view from Qingyun Peak while the sun is rising."
T/n gasped, stars alight in their eyes, "Yes! I'll leave without them if I have to I need to see that!"
"I'm sure you two could wake them up and they wouldn't mind, but I don't know what rooms they're in... and daybreak will be here quickly..." Xiao muttered, his eyes not meeting either of yours.
T/n nodded, a determined gleam set upon their eyes, "Then we just need to tell someone where we're going so they don't freak out."
"We could also leave a note on our bed." You suggested, already walking back inside, "We need to hurry, though, if daybreak is right around the corner."
In the end, you two were too excited and anxious at the prospect of seeing the sun rise from Qingyun Peak. So, you both left a note on your beds saying where you'd gone and that'd you'd gone with Xiao.
"That should be good, let's hurry!" Your twin grabbed both you and Xiao's hands, running for the teleportation waypoint.
You touched it and with the speed of your inner fps player, your teleported the three of you to Qingyun Peak.
