Destitute Angel
@the-trixster-and-the-fallen (sorry it's kinda long, they won’t all be so long, just needed to set the scene) Hannah strode into the small town sometime around midnight. The town was dark and deserted. A few cats darted by as she came upon the blacktop, the limp apparent in her pace.
She didn’t even know how long she’d been walking. How far she’d come or even where she was. She was disoriented and confused, and she hurt. Getting your grace removed was painful for any angel, but being woken up from the empty and having your angelic essence forcefully torn in two by one of the few beings who could be powerful enough to do it was the most agonizing thing she had ever endured.
She’d been torn in two. Two angels, both at half strength. And for what? She didn’t understand. She felt betrayed and hurt. Her counterpart- the new angel who had been made from her- her duplicate, had felt the same way. They’d traveled together for a time. Invisible, lonely, scared.
Eventually, they’d chosen to split up so they could each find a vessel. Hannah never expected to hear a prayer from her former vessel, Caroline. After being reunited with her vessel, she’d escaped Caroline’s husband and now she was alone. Homeless, scared, cold, hungry, and she had no idea where to go from here.
She planned to find her counterpart again, she thought he said he would be going to New York. For now, she had to take care of herself. She’d never been human before, but with her reduced power, she was feeling certain needs creep in that she’d never had before. Hunger, thirst, sleep. She’d never needed them before and she didn’t understand how to get the things she needed.
For now, she thought she’d just try to find somewhere to sleep. But as she walked up and down the main street, she found just about every shop was closed. It was cold and the dark clouds above her threatened to rain at any moment.
Finally, she saw what looked like a car, dark and lonely on the sidewalk. As she approached and opened the door, she was relieved to find it unlocked. No one was inside and she was so very tired. Slowly, she crawled into the back seat and curled up. She shivered as the temperature dropped and began to drift off to sleep.
