Taking Things in Stride
Its just shy of two months in my new relationship; and so far, so good. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I can be very much myself in a relationship; I never feel like I need to filter what I say or act any more mature than I feel like. I know that being with me throws a lot of curve balls at Enigma, but I can tell that he isn't going anywhere (anytime soon at least). The things that I find awkward about myself are oddly endearing in his eyes, and I've become enamored with him as well. There are mannerisms that could be annoying, but I can't bring myself to think of them as anything other than pieces of him.
As much as I hate to admit it, there is a small part of me that relishes in the unspoken knowledge that I have him wrapped around my finger. I know that I never intend to use this to manipulate him, but I know it tips the power balance of our relationship in my favour. As bad its connotations, I kind of like knowing that I have the upper hand; it quells my (previously prevalent) insecurities about relationships. There is something so reassuring about hearing him tell others that he refuses to let me slip through his fingers, or that he intends to treat me as best he can.
For now, I'm going to enjoy being in the throws of a budding new romance. I'm going to treasure everyday that I have with Enigma; and be sure to treat him as best I can.
