This was a request from @22earthquakes! Thanks so much for the suggestion. This is boyf riends, nothing but pure fluff. Decided to lay off the angst for a bit. Remember you can now send a promot or idea to my ask box anytime!
22. “Can I open my eyes yet?”
“Michael, we’ve been walking for like, an hour, my feet hurt, and I can’t see shit. Can I please open my eyes now?” Jeremy complained. He wondered how he got into this mess. Today was supposed to be their anniversary. Michael had told him that their celebration was a surprise, and was only a “short walk.”
Jeremy was starting to hate surprises.
“Aw, quit whining. We’re almost there. Plus it’s been about 30 minutes.” Michael reassured him, one hand gently covering Jeremy’s eyes, while the other was wrapped around the other’s waist to keep him from crashing facefirst into a streetlamp or something.
“Why didn’t we just drive?”
“Because, unfortunately, my car got towed earlier and I couldn’t get it back in time for our date. So… This was the only way.” Jeremy couldn’t help but chuckle. How convenient.
Michael suddenly halted, causing Jeremy to nearly fall over. “Okay, we’re here.” He said, moving his hand away from Jeremy’s eyes. “Happy six months, Jere.”
When Jeremy opened his eyes, he almost snapped them shut again because of the nearly blinding light. But it was so beautiful that he kept them open. The sun was setting over a wide river, it’s light reflecting on the ripples of the clear water. The sky was melted into layers of yellow, orange and pink, the clouds tinted with color. Jeremy wasn’t really the kind of person to stop and enjoy a sunset, but this was just… Beautiful.
Michael grinned as he watched Jeremy’s starstruck expression. He reached for the other’s hand and squeezed it gently, which seemed to bring Jeremy back to reality. Jeremy managed to tear his eyes away from the sunset to look at Michael.
“Michael, this- I didn’t even think- This is- You-” Jeremy stammered for a moment, searching for the right thing to say.
Michael couldn’t wipe the grin off his face. They sat down on the rocks, just at the edge of the riverbank. The water flowed a few feet beneath where they sat, occasionally threatening to spash at their converse. Jeremy stared at the setting sun, but Michael’s eyes were fixated on his boyfriend rather than the horizon. He took in his soft brown hair, and his sharp features. And Jeremy’s eyes. Michael couldn’t even begin to describe how breathtakingly gorgeous Jeremy’s eyes were, sparkling with wonder at the sight before him.
“I can’t believe thought of this. It’s amazing.” Jeremy spoke up suddenly, once he found his composure. Michael smiled softly. “Yeah, anything for you,” he said.
The other boy chuckled, playfully punching his boyfriend in the arm. “You’re so fuckin’ gay.”
“-ow! Hey, so are you!” Michael shoved Jeremy in return.
“GUAAAH!” Jeremy screamed, panicking and flailing wildly for a moment as he nearly fell. Thankfully, Michael managed to grab his waist and pull him back from the edge before he completely slid off into the cold water.
There was a quiet moment that followed the short panic before both boys were laughing hysterically.
“That doesn’t mean you get to push me into the freaking river!”
“You know what, it was worth it! That scream was priceless!”
That sent them both even further into laughter. When they finally calmed down a bit, they sat in comfortable silence.
Michael glanced over at Jeremy once more, who was taking in the last rays of sunshine that were peeking over the horizon. Almost out of instinct, Michael reaches over and cupped Jeremy’s cheek, pulling him closer and pressing their lips together softly. Jeremy’s lips were soft and perfect in comparison to Michael’s chapped lips(he always bit them when he was nervous). But right now, Jeremy didn’t really care. He moved closer to Michael, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend’s middle.
Michael pulled away, his thumb tracing over Jeremy’s cheek gently. There was no other place on earth that he’d rather be right now.
“Yeah, I know. I love you too.”
Honestly, this one wasn’t too bad. I’m kind of afraid if it was a bit unrealistic though. If you have any pointers, let me know! I had fun writing this one.
