Roger Taylor Recommended Tunes #2.
Two Sharp Pencils - Roger Taylor
Okay. This was the one that had originally been planned to be #1 until Take You Higher took over my life.
Do you want a random musical surprise that makes you laugh your ass off? This. Is. It!
Roger goes disco and goes hard. Deaky is probably crying fatherly tears of joy. Is Roger also probably doing his usual thing of criticising by emulating, yeah, probably (see Radio Ga Ga and Sheer Heart Attack for examples of Roger hating on a musical trend by doing a song in that style)
Point is Roger makes you want to rage in a club, makes a social commentary, and makes you laugh all at once. It's very amusing and should be appreciated for the audible oddity that it is amongst his discography.
And yes, that is his voice, just heavily electronically altered, and it was released around the time of Strange Frontier (1984)
Also my theory is that the "Two Sharp Pencils" is a metaphor (It's a METAPHOR Brian!) for a set of drumsticks!
That is all please comment or send me an ask telling me how you liked the song.
